Sumatra PDF is a slim, free, open-source PDF reader for Windows. Portable out of the box. Sumatra has a minimalistic design. Simplicity has a higher priority than a lot of features. It's small and starts up very fast. It's designed for portable use: only one file so you can run it from external USB drive. Doesn't write to registry.

- Separate downloads per each optimized architecture
- Remaped check for updates URLs

Neue Druckertreiberinstallation

Hauptaugenmerk in dieser Version lag bei der Installation des PDF Drucker Treibers. Es wurde ein komplett neues Verfahren eingeführt, welches einige Vorteile mit sich bringt.

    * Diese Variante funktioniert mit allen Windows Versionen, auf denen der PDF24 Creator installiert werden kann. Der PDF24 Creator funktioniert mit Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 und den entsprechenden Server-Versionen.
    * Keine unschöne Meldung bei der Installation, dass der Windows Logo Test nicht bestanden wurde.
    * Der PDF24 Creator kann nun vollkommen ohne Benutzerinteraktion installiert werden. Dazu muss das Setup mit den Argumenten /SILENT oder /VERYSILENT gestartet werden. Damit lässt sich der PDF24 Creator besser in Firmennetzwerken verteilen.

Verbesserung und Ausbau der PDF Lib

In der PDF Lib wurden zwei Probleme beseitigt, die das Schreiben und Lesen einer PDF betreffen. Bei speziellen PDF Dateien gab es Probleme mit der Kodierung. Ebenfalls wurde die Lib erweitert, um kommende Features in den PDF Creator integrieren zu können.
Verbesserung der Interaktion mit Ghostscript

Für Ghostscript werden nun keine Registry-Einträge mehr benötigt. Es wurde auf Umgebungsvariablen umgestellt, die Ghostsrcipt ebenfalls auswertet. So kann sich jeder User selber Ghostscript installieren, ohne das der PDF24 Creator beeinflusst wird oder andere Konflikte entstehen.
Bug im BMP Ausgabefilter beseitigt

Im BMP Ausgabefilter wurde die 3-Bit Option entfernt.
Schafige Bilder im Setup

Das Setup des PDF24 Creator enthält nun Bilder mit dem Schaf. Es war schon längst an der Zeit, die alten Standardbilder abzulösen.

Ohne viel Worte: Adobe hat heute die neue Version des PDF-Readers Adobe Reader veröffentlich. Das Gelöt ist mittlerweile in Version 10 angekommen. Hört sich natürlich nicht so klasse an, da macht man wacker aus der 10 ein X. Bääm. Adobe Reader X! Das schmeckt schon nach Zukunft und PDF-Erlebnis. Naja. Sollte es zumindest. Bitte beachtet, wieviel Space der Schmalhans verballern will.



Jaja, ihr lest richtig. Knapp 416 MB will der Kram installieren. Nun ja. Ich muss gestehen, dass der Reader schnell startet und sich auch angenehm bedienen lässt. Wer den Adobe Reader unbedingt will und benötigt: zuschlagen. Allen anderen stehen zum Glück schlanke Alternativen wie Foxit, Sumatra, PDFXchange zur Verfügung.

PDFCreator ist ein kostenloses Programm, mit dem sich Dokumente eines jeden Windows-Programms als PDF-Datei speichern lassen. Es wird dazu als Drucker in das System eingebunden und erlaubt so die Ausgabe in eine PDF-Datei.



Die Qualität der erstellten Dokumente ist dabei ähnlich hoch wie bei den Produkten von Adobe. Zum weiteren Funktionsumfang von PDFCreator gehört eine 128-Bit-Verschlüsselung, die die Dateien vor unerwünschten Zugriffen schützt. Auch eine Bündelung mehrerer Dokumente zu einer PDF-Datei ist möglich.
