What is new?

    File & Registry Shield

    Users can create rules to limit the access of certain application groups to specified files, folders or registry keys. Due to the advanced nature of this feature it is only available in "Advanced Mode".

    Completely reworked GUI

    Online Armor 5.0 was adapted to the design of the other Emsisoft products and shows a lot of usage simplifications. Additionally the readability of alert windows has been optimized.

    IE Addons removed

    The IE Addons menu was removed. BHOs are really just another autorun and are now handled as such.

    Content filtering in Web Shield removed

    The content filtering aspects of the Web Shield were removed. They were introduced at a time when essentially all browsers lacked control over active content or your private information. Times have changed though and most modern browsers actually do a far superior job now than the Web Shield ever did. Therefore we decided to remove the content filtering from the Web Shield which will result in better compatibility and network performance.
    Improved self protection on x86 and x64 systems.
    Over 400 detail improvements and bug fixes based on user and tester feedback.

What is new in Online Armor 5.1?

    Greatly increased compatibility and stability with other applications

    We focused on improving the compatibility and stability of Online Armor in conjunction with products like Google Chrome, Sandboxie, Panda Cloud AV and others.

    Overhauled white list settings

    We changed the white list settings slightly. In addition it is now possible to optionally trust all digitally signed files that were signed using a certificate that hasn’t been used in connection with fraudulent or malicious activities in the past.
    New upload feature
    You are not sure about a certain program? You can now easily upload it to the Emsisoft Anti-Malware Network and get the file scanned using Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

    More than 100 other bug fixes

    More than 100 reported bugs and issues in Online Armor 5.0 are fixed in 5.1. Those fixes include for example a recently reported vulnerability with Sinowal drive-by downloads, freezes during the SCW, freezes when executing applications from network shares, various Online Armor GUI freezes, cases where Online Armor forgot about certain application rules as well as many others.

Availability

Setup files with the update option are ready for download on our website. Using  the built-in online update feature, all existing installations will automatically  be updated during the next few days. As always Emsisoft offers free updates to the new version for all users with valid licenses.

- Added Restricted Rights feature which allows rights to be reduced for specific apps on the fly (via Process Detection Alerts) or via Privatefirewall GUI (Processes tab of Advanced Applications Settings).
- Added log level control: Off, Low, Med, High.  Low (only events with red/blue icons are logged, i.e. which are not related to any existing rules), Med (almost all, except restricted IPs, port scans, invalid packet flags, dropped due to SPI), High (All firewall events are logged).
- Expanded max alert time-out and added user options to control length of time-out period.
- Added ability to right mouse click event in FW log to add IP to the Blocked or Trusted List.
- Addressed full-screen game compatibility issues.
