Das portable Tool Mahaf speichert Anmeldedaten für Webseiten wie Passwörter oder Benutzernamen. Somit rufen Sie Web-Konten schneller auf und müssen sich die Daten nicht einzeln merken.
 
Sie verfügen über jede Menge Benutzerdaten - angefangen von Benutzernamen bis hin zu Passwörtern. Diese alle zu merken, ist äußerst mühsehlig. Das Tool Mahaf speichert Daten wie Internet-Adressen, Benutzernamen und Passwörter in einer Datenbank. Die Datenbanken können verschlüsselt gespeichert werden. Verwendet wird dafür TwoFish (Twofish ist eine Blockchiffre mit einer Blockgröße von 128 Bits und arbeitet mit der Schlüssellänge von 256 Bits.) und als Hashalgorithmus Haval (auch 256 Bits).

Somit haben Sie alle Passwörter parat und rufen beispielsweise Online-Konten schneller und bequemer auf. Auf Wunsch lässt sich die Datenbank sichern. Dadurch schützen Sie Ihre persönlichen Daten vor unbefugten Dritten.

Nach einigem Hin und Her hat Facebook fürs Erste die Oberhand gewonnen: Nach Änderungen am Quellcode zeigt die Plattform auch Nutzern von Adblockern wieder Werbung an.

Gut eine Woche nachdem Facebook den Adblockern den Krieg erklärte, hat der Social-Media-Konzern offenbar die erste Schlacht gewonnen. Nach mehreren Änderungen des Quelltextes ist es den Facebook-Entwicklern gelungen, die auf der Plattform geschaltete Werbung so zu tarnen, dass Adblocker sie nicht mehr wirkungsvoll erkennen können.

Im Firmen-Blog gesteht Eyeo-Manager Ben Williams eine Niederlage ein. So habe es die Open-Source-Community nicht geschafft, den Änderungen von Facebook eine Strategie entgegenzusetzen. Bei Adblock Plus & Co. verwalten Open-Source-Entwickler die Filterlisten der Browser-Erweiterun. "Es läuft darauf hinaus, dass die Werbung, die im Facebook-Feed auftaucht, derzeit nicht blockiert werden kann". Dies sei aber kein Sieg auf Dauer.

Blocking-Chaos

In Tests erweist sich die Lage als etwas komplizierter. In einigen Konfigurationen kehrten die Facebook-Anzeigen trotz aktiviertem Adblocker wieder auf Facebook zurück. Teilweise scheinen die Blockaden aber noch zu wirken. Neben Werbeanzeigen entfernen die Filter aber auch andere Facebook-Elemente wie die Anzeige der neusten Aktivitäten des Freundeskreises. Wegen eines solchen Overblockings hatte Adblock-Plus-Hersteller Eyeo kürzlich eine Einstweilige Verfügung von Springer kassiert.

In dem Blog-Beitrag schildert Williams die technischen Änderungen des bisherigen Katz- und Maus-Spiels. Bisher sei Facebook-Werbung durch drei einfache Filterregeln wirkungsvoll geblockt worden, da die bezahlte Werbung im Quelltext des Facebook-Feeds eindeutig erkennbar war. Daraufhin hatten Facebook-Entwickler diese Elemente aus dem Quelltext entfernt, um Werbung wieder an den Adblockern vorbeizuschleusen.

An die Grenze des Blockbaren

Dann fiel den Autoren der Filterliste auf, dass sich bei unbezahlten Inhalten ein Kennzeichen fand, das der Werbung fehlte: ein Zeitstempel. Also blockierten sie Inhalte ohne Zeitstempel. Facebook reagierte darauf, indem sie auch Werbung einen Zeitstempel versahen. Damit sind die Filter-Autoren – zumindest vorübergehend – an ihre Grenzen gestoßen. Im Quellcode gibt es keine eindeutigen Kennzeichen mehr, anhand derer Adblock Plus und andere gebräuchliche Blocker Werbung wegfiltern könnten.

"Auch wenn es so aussieht, dass Facebook das letzte Wort hat, das Spiel ist noch lange nicht vorüber", warnt Williams. So muss Facebook seine Werbung für Kunden sichtbar kennzeichnen. Bisher kann die Filter-Engine von Adblock Plus diese Hinweise allerdings nicht erkennen. Ein Update von Adblock Plus könnte dies wieder ändern.
