Classic Theme Restorer restores squared tabs, appbutton/appmenu, bookmarks menu button, bookmarks sidebar button, history sidebar button and other buttons from Firefox 4-28 (non-Australis) on Firefox 29+ (Austalis UI - Windows, MacOSX, Linux).

All buttons are fully optional. Some of them have to be moved to toolbars manually using browsers 'customize' area.

Zwei aktuelle Studien zeigen: Werbeblocker werden immer populärer. Gerade mobil wollen Nutzer weniger Werbung sehen. Ausgerechnet ein Anbieter von Videowerbung sieht sich als Musterbeispiel.

Spätestens seit Apple im vergangenen Jahr Adblocker in seinem AppStore erlaubte, ist das Blockieren von Werbung Mainstream. Wie das britische Unternehmen GlobalWebIndex in einer aktuellen Umfrage ermittelte, stieg der Einsatz von Adblockern auf Desktop-Computern im vierten Quartal des Jahres 2015 sprunghaft an – von 28 auf 38 Prozent. Mobil kommt das Unternehmen fast auf die gleiche Quote: In der Umfrage gaben 38 Prozent an, im vergangenen Monat einen Adblocker eingesetzt zu haben. Allerdings werden die Zahlen durch die hohe Nutzung von Werbeblockern in asiatischen Ländern hochgetrieben, in Europa seien es derzeit noch ein Viertel der Nutzer.

Auch der Videowerbung-Anbieter Teads hat eine internationale Studie zum Einsatz von Adblockern vorgelegt. In Deutschland ist demnach die Motivation, störende Anzeigen zu blocken, mit 72 Prozent der Befragten sehr hoch. Von den werbeblockierenden Nutzern gaben demnach 66 Prozent an, dass vor allem "störende Werbung" für die Installation eines Werbeblockers ausschlaggebend gewesen sei.

Gegen "aufgezwungene" Videos und Chaos

Oben auf der Liste stehen demnach "aufgezwungene Videos". Teads ist der Auffassung, dass das eigene Videowerbungssystem InRead, das Videos direkt in redaktionelle Texte einblendet, bei den Nutzern besser abschneidet, da diese die Werbung ja überspringen könnten. Doch bevor sie das tun können, müssen sie auch bei dieser Werbeform erst scrollen und den Ausblende-Knopf finden, ohne versehentlich den Sound zu aktivieren.

Unterdessen geht der Streit über den Umgang mit Werbeblockern auf vielen Ebenen weiter. Auf dem jährlichen Leadership Meeting der internationalen Werber-Organisation IAB verurteilte deren Vorsitzender Randall Rothenberg Firmen, die Adblocker herausgeben, als "unmoralisch" und beklagte, dass mittlerweile auch große Investmenthäuser und Werbeunternehmen in das Geschäft mit Adblockern investierten.

Geschäfte mit Adblockern und deren Whitelists seien jedoch der falsche Weg. Immer mehr Verleger setzten auf Skripte, die die Adblock-Nutzer direkt ansprächen. "Sie geben dem Nutzer eine echte Wahl: Entweder schalten Sie Adblocker aus, zahlen ein Abonnement oder bekommen eine andere Alternative angeboten", sagte Rothenberg. Zusätzlich will sich die IAB bemühen, das Chaos im Werbemarkt zu beseitigen, das dazu geführt habe, dass teilweise Dutzende Firmen Anzeigen auf einer Webseite einspielten und den Nutzer überforderten.
