Die Blockade von Werbeblockern auf bild.de war nur der Anfang - jetzt versucht das Medienhaus auch gegen andere Blocker-Hersteller vorzugehen. Nun ist der iOS-Filter "Blockr" dran.

Wie die Kölner Medienrechtskanzlei LHR mitteilt, hat die Axel Springer-Tochter WELTN24 vor dem Landgericht Stuttgart versucht, eine Einstweilige Verfügung gegen die Hersteller des Werbefilters Blockr für iPhone und iPad zu erhalten. Den Programmierern soll verboten werden, eine App zu vertreiben, die Werbeinhalte auf welt.de unterdrückt.

Laut Anwälten der Gegenseite sieht es aber nicht gut aus für das Medienhaus. Bei der mündlichen Verhandlung zeigte sich die Zivilkammer des Landgerichts Stuttgart nicht überzeugt, dass der Vertrieb eines Werbeblockers gegen das Gesetz gegen den unlauteren Wettbewerb verstoße. "Das Gericht hat dabei insbesondere auch berücksichtigt, dass es die freie Entscheidung der Nutzer ist, ob sie einen Werbeblocker, wie den unserer Mandanten, nutzen wollen", erklärt Anwalt Niklas Haberkamm, der Blockr in dem Prozess vertritt. Ein endgültiges Urteil wird am 10. Dezember erwartet.

Prozesslawine losgetreten

Es ist einer von vielen Rechtsstreitigkeits um Adblocker. Im Oktober war es den Anwälten von Axel Springer gelungen, eine Einstweilige Verfügung gegen den Adblock Plus-Hersteller Eyeo zu erwirken. Hiermit wurde die Kölner Firma unter anderem daran gehindert, einen Filter in sein Produkt zu integrieren, der die Adblocker-Sperre auf bild.de umgangen hätte. Zuvor war das Medienhaus vor dem Landgericht Köln damit gescheitert, den Vertrieb von Adblock Plus insgesamt verbieten zu lassen. Auch andere Verlage haben Eyeo verklagt, sind damit aber in der ersten Instanz allesamt gescheitert.

Das Verlagshaus hatte nach den ersten Wochen eine positive Zwischenbilanz der Adblocker-Blockade auf bild.de gezogen: Der Anteil der Besucher auf bild.de mit Adblocker sei innerhalb kurzer Zeit um zwei Drittel zurückgegangen ohne dass das Portal signifikant Reichweite eingebüßt habe. Wie lange dieser Effekt anhält ist jedoch fraglich. So hat Eyeo bereits gegen die Verfügung des Landgerichts Hamburg Widerspruch eingelegt. Andere Adblocker haben die Adblocker-Sperre auf bild.de auf eigene Faust umgangen. Die Hersteller von Blockr wollen hingegen den Adblocker-Schutz nicht anrühren: "Wir respektieren, wenn Betreiber ihr Produkt vor Werbeblock-Funktionen schützen wollen oder sie zu einem Whitelist-Eintrag auffordern wollen", erklären sie gegenüber heise online. Zudem sei die Filter-Engine derzeit nicht in der Lage die Sperre zu umgehen.

"Adblocker gefährden Journalismus"

Auf Anfrage wollte Konzern nicht beantworten, gegen wie viele Adblock- Hersteller er prozessiert. "Die Axel Springer SE bringt in verschiedenen juristischen Initiativen ihre Position zu Adblockern zum Ausdruck: Werbeblocking greift in verfassungsrechtlich geschützte Positionen der Verlage ein und gefährdet die Refinanzierung – langfristig damit die Existenz – von professionellem Journalismus im Internet", erklärt ein Sprecher am Freitagnachmittag.

Der Kampf um Adblocker ist auch in den USA in vollem Gange. Wie die US-Site Digiday berichtet, hat Yahoo damit experimentiert, Nutzer des eigenen Webmail-Dienstes zum Abschalten der Adblocker zu zwingen. Laut dem US-Magazin Forbes steht Yahoo-Chefin Marissa Mayer wegen sinkender Umsätze unter Druck.
