Greasemonkey optimiert Firefox für die Ausgabe von Websites. Die Freeware-Erweiterung passt mithilfe von Skripten Websites an die eigenen Bedürfnisse an. Egal ob neue Funktion oder Ausblendung von bestimmten Elementen, die Möglichkeiten sind schier unerschöpflich.

Dazu führen die Skripte Javascript-Funktionen durch, die das Rendering im Browser beeinflussen. Man entfernt Werbung oder ändert das Design der Seite. Weiterhin tauscht man das Google-Logo aus oder lädt YouTube-Videos herunter. Für fast jeden Zweck existieren die passenden Skripte.

Greasemonkey zählt zu den mächtigsten Firefox-Erweiterungen. Mit dem Add-On schneidert sich jeder User Websites so zurecht, wie er sie gerne hätte. Achtung: Nicht jedes Skript sollte blind installiert werden, schließlich könnte eines auch Passwörter stehlen. Vor der Installation sollte man deswegen den Autoren auf Seriosität hin prüfen.

Mit HttpWatch kann man sich anzeigen lassen, was alles geladen/aufgerufen wird (inkl. Ladezeiten), wenn man eine Internetseite öffnet. Dazu installiert sich das Programm als Erweiterung in den Firefox bzw. IE. Mit einem Rechtsklick im Browser bekommt man die Möglichkeit, das Programm und anschl. die Aufzeichnung zu starten. Neben der Free-Version bietet der Hersteller noch eine Pro-Edition an, die mit 395$ aber eher nicht für den Privatanwender gedacht ist.

The Download Manager Tweak extension streamlines the current Firefox download manager. Download Manager Tweak will allow the Firefox download manager to be opened in the sidebar, a separate window or a tab. The extension also modifies the default appearance of the download manager to make it more concise and intuitive.

Additional features beyond appearance include deleting a downloaded file and re-downloading a mistakenly deleted file. The various appearance changes can be disabled, if you don't like the look and just want it to open in a tab or sidebar.
