After 2.5 years of work, 1,500+ code commits, and 3,000+ builds, PhotoDemon 7.0 is nearly ready for release. To give an idea of how much has changed, this release includes more new features and improvements than the past four releases combined. 7.0 represents a monumental effort, and it would not be possible without all the amazing people who have donated money, time, and feedback.

I originally wrote this release announcement as a single article, but it was so massive that it crashed some web browsers. So instead, I’ve now separated various features into their own articles, all of which are linked below.

BatchBlitz is a batch image processor with an included photo edit program. It allows you to add a watermarks, filter source files, rename/convert images, resize/rotate, automatically apply color corrections, and more. An instant preview gives you a look at effects before executing. Additionally, the program supports regular expressions for filtering files to be processed and for the renaming of files. It includes a wizard to categorize files based on metadata (EXIF or IPTC tags). The editor program is separate from the batch program, but included in the application folder, and can be launched from within BatchBlitz for editing.

ColorLookup: add "Master Curve Mode" parameter, which enable selecting different algorithms to apply the tone curve with more or less color shifting. These curve modes are inspired by RawTherapee. Also add the possibility to compute and display the RGB histogram of the source input.
WriteFFmpeg: support 10-bit DNxHR 444 and DNxHR HQX (and fix a related FFmpeg bug).

ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

    Windows, working with UNC paths:

    Correct work with copy/move/reject with UNC paths

    Incorrect zoom setting has been fixed, it happened after the following sequence of events: manually setting the Zoom (not fit-to-screen) - switching to embedded JPEG (lower resolution) - moving to the next file with the default image to display: RAW.
    The Reset filtering on folder change setting was always on and wouldn't turn off.
    In some cases, when deleting/moving all filtered files, the filtering was lost.
    The Title/Description wouldn't update in the interior cache after editing and could be displayed incorrectly in the Grid (but not in the XMP Metadata Panel)
    When turning on sorting by metadata, the curent file could randomly change in the process of filtration (during more metadata reading).
    The & symbol was displayed incorrectly in the hotkey settings dialog.
    The check for the image aspect ratio is now done more carefully/accurately.
    Work with black-and-white thumbnails has been improved.
    Color data for calculating CCT/Tint for the Panasonic LX100 camera has been fixed.

    Windows: on the first prefrernces save, graphics mode to be set to DirectX9 instead of determined automatically on the first run

Ihre Bildersammlung können Sie dann als Diashow entweder fürs Web oder auf eine CD/DVD exportieren. Dafür stehen mehrere Vorlagen zur Verfügung.

Das Programm ist nahezu identisch zu StudioLine Photo. Unterschiede zwischen der hier angebotenen Basic-Version und der kommerziellen Vollversion: kein RAW-Support, keine Zeitleisten- und Stichwortdarstellung, keine Updates und Services. Außerdem muss man sich nach 30 Tagen kostenlos registrieren lassen, um das Programm weiterhin zu nutzen.
