ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

Bildbearbeitung und Viewer aus dem Hause Nikon

Mit ViewNX bearbeiten, organisieren und betrachten Nutzer Fotos unter Windows. Die Freeware stammt vom japanischen Kamera-Hersteller Nikon und liefert neben einem Bildbetrachter auch eine rudimentäre Bildbearbeitungssoftware mit.

ViewNX verwaltet Fotosammlungen in einer Windows Explorer ähnlichen Ansicht. Hier lassen sich die einzelnen Schnappschüsse auf einfache Weise mit Tags versehen und bewerten. Anwender können auch mehreren Fotos gleichzeitig IPTC-Informationen zuweisen.

Die Bildbearbeitungsfunktionen von ViewNX decken die wichtigsten Bereiche ab. So entfernt die Freeware beispielsweise den so genannten Rote-Augen-Effekt in Fotos und bietet Justierwerkzeuge für Bildschärfe, Kontrast, Helligkeit, Farbtemperatur, Bildausrichtung sowie Farbsättigung. Wer will, kann eigene Diashows erstellen und Videos mit Übergangseffekte miteinander verbinden.

Als Standardsoftware für Nikon-Kameras bietet das kostenlose ViewNX einige Extra-Funktionen für Fotoapparate aus Fernost. Die meisten Funktion lassen sich aber auch mit Fotos aus beliebigen anderen Quellen sinnvoll nutzen.
