ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

JPEGView is a viewer/editor for JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF images. It is designed to view images from digital cameras full screen and with highest quality possible. Basic image editing functionality is provided - allowing to correct typical problems as color cast, high/low contrast and under- or overexposure very quickly and interactively during review of the images. JPEGView does not replace a full blown image editor - such an editor will just be needed less often.

- After having had massive problems with a compiler bug when compiling the WEBP source code, I decided to switch to Visual Studio 2010. Install VS 2010 to compile JPEGView - Express Edition (free) is sufficient.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) dürfte mittlerweile jedem bekannt sein, oder? Es gibt wenige Kameras, die echtes HDR aufzeichnen können, deswegen müssen normale Fotografen oftmals mehrere Bilder in verschiedenen Belichtungen schießen, um ein HDR-Foto zu realisieren. Alternativ gibt es noch Pseudo-HDR, welches sich mit nur einem Foto realisieren lässt. Die oftmals pittoresk wirkenden Bilder finde ich klasse.

Es gibt verschiedene kostenpflichtige als auch kostenlose Software zum Erstellen von HDR und Pseudo-HDR, eine davon ist Fusion, welches grade vor einigen Tagen in einer neuen Version erschienen ist. Die Arbeitsweise ist simpel: Bild(er) rein, Filter einstellen, an den jeweiligen Regler Helligkeit & Co wählen und das HDR genießen – sofern man Freund dieser Bildart ist. Fusion ist nur für Windows.

· For VS2010 users, a solution and project file for VS2010 is included in the source code distribution.
· WebP library needs to be compiled with VS2010 as the VS2005 compiler produces crashing code from the Google source - so WebP will not work in XP SP1 or earlier.
· libwebp_a.dll made delay loaded - therefore JPEGView runs without this DLL when you do not need webp.
