Fotokorrektur läuft immer wieder auf die gleichen Arbeitsschritte hinaus. Einen pickt sich der JPG-Illuminator heraus, der sich auf das Aufhellen von Schatten und Abdunkeln der Lichter spezialisiert. Er bearbeitet zusätzlich den Kontrast und setzt Bilder in Schwarzweiß um. Wie der Name JPG-Illuminator schon sagt, richtet sich das Programm an Nutzer, die im JPG-Format fotografieren. Da es ohne Installation auskommt, startet es beispielsweise auch vom USB-Stick.

Intern haben wir am Programmaufbau einiges geändert. Von außen ist davon folgendes sichtbar:

1. Den gesamten Bereich "Ansicht" haben wir umstrukturiert.
2. Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Schärfenvorschau-Fenster und Hauptfenster bzw. Lupe wurde vereinfacht.
3. Eine ji-Filterdatei (*.jif) kann von Windows mit "Rechte Maustaste > Öffnen mit... jpg-Illuminator" mit dem zugeordneten Originalbild geöffnet werden.
4. Die Funktion Glätten von Tonwertübergängen haben wir nochmals geringfügig angepasst.
5. Der Menüeintrag "Fürs Web speichern" hat "Strg+W" als Shortcut bekommen (Danke an foto59).

    Avoids copying files already copied from camera memory cards by storing a small database on each card. (Behavior can be controlled under jAlbum Preferences)
    jAlbum is now better at accepting files dropped from iPhoto and Photoshop Elements (got worse since v9). Such images can now be either copied or linked to jAlbum
    jAlbum now detects camera memory cards inserted into the computer (Bundled CameraImporter extension).
    Asks 1:st time users if they already have a jAlbum account when uploading
    Clicking the account status bar in the lower right now takes you to your profile page signed in

Bug fixes

    Windows version now bundled with Java 1.6.0_25 as a bug introduced in 1.6.0_26 (the current release) has broken the "Add photos" button. Those who wish can download jAlbum without embedded Java here.
    Files containing illegal web characters could accidentally be moved or deleted by jAlbum (since 9.3)
    jAlbum failed to start on other systems than Windows, Mac and Linux (since 9.4)
    Renaming a file extension between upper and lower case didn't work
    The "Convert upper case to lower case" tool didn't work
    Creating project names or renaming projects to invalid names now properly errors
    Removed debug prints

ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

Zoner hat mit Photo Studio Free 13 die neue Version seiner kostenlosen Bildbearbeitungs- und Verwaltungssoftware vorgestellt. Damit lassen sich nicht nur Fotos verbessern, sondern auch Puzzle, Rahmen und Postkarten erzeugen.

Die neue Version 13 von Zoner Photo Studio Free basiert auf der schon länger erhältlichen, kostenpflichtigen Pro-Version. Bei der kostenlosen Variante fehlt die Bearbeitungsfunktion von Rohdaten zwar nicht vollständig, aber tiefgehende Funktionen wurden zugunsten der kostenpflichtigen Version weggelassen.

Photo Studio 13 Free arbeitet mit einem Bildkatalog, der Exif- und IPTC-Daten anzeigen kann. Von hier aus können Bildkorrekturen einzeln oder stapelweise auf die Fotos angewendet werden. Eine Schnellkorrekturfunktion versucht automatisch, flaue Farben zu sättigen, die Helligkeitsverteilung zu verbessern und Schatten aufzuhellen.

Der Katalog reagiert in der neuen Version etwas schneller. Fotos können nach Kriterien wie ISO, Brennweite, Blende und vielem mehr sortiert werden Die Filterfunktion erlaubt die Suche in allen Feldern. Im Manager können die Bilder außerdem bewertet und mit Titeln und Beschreibungen versorgt werden. Eine Verschlagwortungsfunktion mit Wortkatalog ist ebenfalls vorhanden.

Der Editor bietet neben den üblichen Basisfunktionen die Entfernung roter Blitzaugen und kann Bildbereiche retuschieren. Bilder lassen sich außerdem geraderücken, ausschneiden und schärfen. Funktionen zum Entrauschen oder gar zum Maskieren einzelner Bildbereiche hat der Hersteller aus der kostenlosen Version entfernt.

Die neue Version nutzt außerdem moderne Mehrkernprozessoren aus und arbeitet dadurch wesentlich schneller. Zoner Photo Studio Free läuft unter Windows ab XP.

Der Picture Viewer ist ein kleiner Bildbetrachter für die gängigsten Bildformate. Die automatische Größenanpassung für die Bilder und ein Vollbildmodus sorgen für eine gleichmäßige und angenehme Darstellung. Bilder können gedreht und gespiegelt werden, in ein anderes Verzeichnis kopiert oder verschoben und umbenannt werden.

Für Freunde der Maus gibt es für Windows mit ExifTool GUI mittlerweile eine grafische Oberfläche. Es zeigt EXIF-Daten von JPEG- und Raw-Fotos in einer übersichtlichen Tabelle an und listet die Bearbeitungsfunktionen im Menü auf.

Changes in v4.14 June 27, 2011

1. ExifTool direct option added: saving user defined commands -finally.
This option isn't ment to be a database for all commands ExifTool has (beware). However, it can be very handy for commands you use most often, or those hard to remember (aren't they all?).

2. Minor bug in GUI (not metadata related) removed (applies to Vista and Windows7 only):
In rare cases, after pressing Alt or AltGr key for the first time, some GUI controls (Buttons, CheckBoxes,..) could become (temporary) invisible in GUI. This time, it wasn't my fault -honestly  . In short: GUI is made with Delphi v7, which dates in year 2002 and at that time, Vista/Win7 didn't exist.
