PhotoFiltre ist ein vollwertiges Bildbearbeitungsprogramm mit über 100 Filter und Effekten. Es beherrscht neben den verbreiteten Bild-Formaten GIF, JPG, BMP, PNG, ICO, TIF usw. auch PCD (Photo-CD), PSD (Photoshop), PSP (Paintshop Pro) sowie JPEG2000-Bilder. Für das Abspeichern stehen u.a. die Formate JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF und PNG zur Auswahl. Sie können mehrere Bilder gleichzeitig bearbeiten.

Die Fenster lassen sich zur besseren Übersicht horizontal oder vertikal nebeneinander platzieren. Die vielseitige Palette an Zeichenwerkzeugen sollte für den Hobbygrafiker völlig ausreichen. Einige zusätzliche Plugins werden auf der Homepage zum Download angeboten. Die entpackten Dateien kopieren Sie in den PhotoFiltre-Unterordner 'Plugins'. Zugriff auf Plugins erhalten Sie im Datei-Menü über 'Import'. Zu den Plugins gehört z.B. eine sehr gute Screenshot-Funktion (Capture.zip). Das Plugin ImpGifAnim.zip erlaubt das Extrahieren von Frames aus animierten GIF-Dateien.

ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

- The lost shadows/highlights indicator feature, available as an option to the Zoom/Radar gadget (Z), has been enhanced and now works in full screen, through the C key, in GPU-accelerated mode.
- A program option on the Personalization page let you control the behavior of the C key, from spring-loaded Lo/Hi (press to see both lost shadows and highlights together, release to return to normal), to Sticky Lo/Hi (press and release to activate, then press and release to go back to normal), to Cycle through Lo, Hi, Normal (press and release to see lost shadows, press and release again to see lost highlights, press and release yet again to return to normal view).
