New: Replace the internal filters with LAV Filters. LAV Filters are modern open source DirectShow filters based on FFmpeg. They are known to be reliable and fast and overall should be more stable than the old filters. MPC-HC integrates LAV Filters directly and no extra installation steps are required. The embedded version of LAV Filters doesn't interfere at all with other installed DirectShow filters (including the standalone versions of LAV Filters). Note to XP users: hardware decoding is only supported on nVidia graphic adapters. If you really need a DXVA decoder, you can use a standalone version of MPC Video Decoder. Support loading HTTP/RTSP/UDP/RTP streams using embedded source filters. D3DFullscreen can now switch to windowed mode (just like regular fullscreen mode). Audio Switcher: Show all audio tracks available, including all the embedded tracks exhibited by the source filter and the external tracks. Playlist: Add a "Move to Recycle Bin" right click option, with optional keyboard shortcut. Add a command line switch (/device) to open the default video device. Add support for playing from standard input. Use "-" as a special filename to designate the standard input. Examples: > mpc-hc.exe - < sample.ts > a_prog.exe | mpc-hc.exe - Improved RAR File Source integration: - Added support for subtitle database - Added support for file properties and MediaInfo - "File -> Save a copy" now extracts the file from the RAR archive Windows 8.1 support.Changed: All track selection sub-menus are now centralized in the Play menu, the similar sub-menus have been removed from the Navigate menu. The naming of external subtitles item in Play -> Subtitles menu has been improved to get rid of the uninformative "Undetermined" name. When "Prefer external subtitles over embedded subtitles" is enabled, an external track is always selected by default even if an embedded track matches a preferred language. The "Go To" menu entry has been moved to the "Navigate" menu. D3DFullscreen changes: - toggle hotkey is now disabled by default - support for madVR has been removed (it already has exclusive mode) - 10-bit RBG output now falls back to 8-bit output if the display does not support it Remove D2VSource; it's unmaintained and basically unused. WebUI: Switched to HTML5 and improved the cross browser support (IE8 or newer is needed, other browsers should work fine). Updated Armenian, Basque, Czech, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Polish, Romanian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Slovak, Turkish and Ukrainian translations. Updated Little CMS to v2.5 (git ad2cb04). Updated Unrar to v5.0.0. Updated MediaInfoLib to v0.7.64. Updated ZenLib to v0.4.29 r444. Updated VirtualDub to v1.10.4-test11.Fixed: D3DFullscreen fixes: - fixed strange focus behavior when always on top is enabled - fixed VMR9 D3DFS minimizing when losing focus - fixed thumb mouse buttons not working when D3DFS has focus Various fixes for better playlist support. Fixed creation date in file properties always being shown as "Not known". Fix the handling of aspect ratio changes when using EVR-CP or Sync Renderer with DXVA decoding. Fix graph objects not being properly released when opening another file while Properties or Options window is visible. Fix remembering file position when double-clicking on a playlist item. If a position was previously saved, it will be restored unless the file is already playing. Audio Switcher: Fix a crash with audio resampling and channel remapping enabled. Disable the "Explore to" feature when the file isn't local in the Properties dialog and the playlist context menu. Hide MediaInfo tab when no information is available. Don't show the progress in the taskbar when no duration is available The "File" menu was slow to open when a drive was unavailable.
There are some big changes in this version, so I will briefly address the main ones. 1. Introduction of a timeline preview for Zoom Player MAX (aka 'thumbnails over the timeline'). I've mentioned this a bit in the latest beta thread, but briefly, when you enable the feature and mouse over the timeline, a thumbnail appears, showing you a preview of the video at that time. It currently works for formats that have keyframes. Formats that do not have keyframes are currently unsupported (there are some performance issues that bLight has to work out first before enabling the feature for such formats). The main format most people will notice that is affected is probably WMV. madVR users: If you intend to use thumbnails in fullscreen mode, be aware that displaying Zoom's OSD through madVR's API will add about 500ms to each frame update. That's a potentially significant performance hit - there is nothing that can be done about this however, except to disable "Display OSD through MadVR's OSD API (preserves fullscreen exclusive mode)" in Zoom's options (of course, madVR will then kick out of FSE mode when you display the Zoom control bar). 2. There have been quite a lot of changes to the Smart Play profiles. This won't affect most people, but for people who heavily customise the default Smart Play profiles, I would suggest obtaining a copy of the new profiles and starting from scratch. Most of the changes are to the default component used for that profile - but there was one change that wasn't. GIF files have been split from the Still Image profile, into a new GIF profile (only really of interest to people who use Zoom for viewing image files). 3. Associated with the changes to the Smart Play profiles, there have been two changes to Install Center. Firstly and most importantly, the components available from Install Center have been pruned. There are now only 12 components available in Install Center. In the same order as listed in Install Center: ffdshow, DCoder's Bass, LAV Filters, madVR, Haali's Media Splitter, DirectVobSub, AC3Filter, DScaler MPEG2/AC3/DTS/DVD, Gabest AVI Splitter, FFMPEG Core Files, 7-Zip, DCoder Image Source. Secondly, not all Install Center components are ticked by default when you first run it. That is, some components are now listed, but not ticked by default when you run Install Center. These are: Haali's, AC3Filter, Gabest AVI and FFMPEG. Note that there may be some more components removed from Install Center in the future (possibly candidates are AC3Filter, Gabest AVI, DScaler MPEG2). If you currently have everything from Install Center installed, though you will see that the list of components is smaller when you next run Install Center, you will not see the change to what components are and are not ticked by default. If you really want to see this change and not have to reinstall Windows to do it, simply uninstall everything from Install Center, and when you run it again, you will see the new list of components, including which ones are ticked by default. 4. Zoom Player and Install Center no longer have external .manifest files. These are now built-in to the executables themselves. Note that DefaultSettings.exe still has an external .manifest file. 5. If you have been following the Beta's, there have been no changes to Default.key or English.menu, so for those of us up to date with the Beta's, there should be no need to re-generate our custom key files, or custom context menus. If you haven't been following the Beta's, then I would suggest checking if your custom files are up to date just in case. 6. Beta 28 includes the security fix from Beta 11 (http://forum.inmatri...showtopic=14073). If you are using a version prior to 8.70 Beta 11, I strongly urge you to consider updating. That's about it for the major changes, please read the changelog in full for the rest of the changes - it's not really all that big :) Known Issues:1. Thumbnails: If you open a video and then mouse over the timeline, wait for the thumbnail to appear and then continue to slowly move your mouse down over the timeline, the thumbnail incorrectly changes to a preview of the first frame in the video. bLight believes it to be a graph issue, but has no fix for it at this point in time. Note that this only happens the first time you mouse over the timeline (reloading the media file will cause it to happen again, as will closing Zoom and re-opening it).2. Thumbnails: If you mouse over the timeline towards the start or end of a video, so that part of the thumbnail is off the Zoom window, and then immediately click the mouse to seek to that position, the thumbnail will disappear behind the Zoom window.
