Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich euch die IObit Toolbox vorgestellt, ein portables Tool um diverse Dinge am PC durchzuführen (softwareseitig). So umfasst die Software Suite diverse Reinigungs- und Datenlöschtools. Auch ein Startup-Editor ist mit an Bord. Gestern erschien die kostenlose IObit Toolbox in der finalen Version 1.0.





Die Toolbox ist bislang nur in der englischen Sprache zu haben, trotz alledem dürften auch Experten mit gefährlichem Halbwissen klar kommen Ich gebe hier zu bedenken, dass IObit in Verdacht steht sich mit fremden Federn (bzw. Technologien) zu schmücken.

Mit der portablen Software FileKiller werden Dateien sicher von der Festplatte gelöscht.Man hat die Auswahl zwischen einem und 100 Überschreibvorgängen, wobei noch gewählt werden kann, ob Leerstellen, Zufallsdaten oder ASCII-Zeichen geschrieben werden sollen.Ein anschl. Wiederherstellen ist so nicht mehr möglich.

Das Open-Source-Projekt Videolan hat am Donnerstagmorgen (Ortszeit) erneut eine aktualisierte Fassung seines kostenfreien Mediaplayers VLC in Version 1.1.4 zur Verfügung gestellt.

Das Programm wurde diesmal nur in einem einzigen Punkt überarbeitet: Ein generells Loch im Windows-Betriebssystem macht es Angreifern leicht, die Kontrolle über einen Rechner zu übernehmen. Der Bug wurde geschlossen, alle Benutzer sollten die VLC-Softwaree unbedingt aktualisieren, weil sie ebenfalls betroffen ist.
