This release adds better HTML export, a winPenPack version of Task Coach, and fixes some bugs. Task Coach now uses Uservoice.com for feature requests.

Dia is a diagramming program roughly inspired by the commercial Windows program Visio, though more geared towards informal diagrams for casual use. It can be used to draw many different kinds of diagrams and has special objects to help draw entity relationship diagrams, UML diagrams, flowcharts, network diagrams, and many other diagrams.

Der freie Instant Messenger Pidgin ist in der Version 2.6.1 erschienen, die vor allem im Bereich XMPP einige neue Funktionen enthält. Mit Google Talk sind jetzt Audiochats möglich. Zusammen mit Pidgin wurden auch die zugrundeliegende Bibliothek Libpurple und der Textclient Finch aktualisiert.

Die Entwickler des freien Instant Messengers haben die Version 2.6.0 und kurz darauf das Update auf die Version 2.6.1 veröffentlicht. In die Libpurple ist ein Framework für Audio- und Videochats integriert. Es entstand im Rahmen von Googles Summer of Code 2008. Umgesetzt wird diese Änderung schon bei XMPP/Jabber. Hier soll jetzt Audiochat mit Google-Talk-Nutzern möglich sein. Im Zusammenspiel mit dem Google-Mail-Webclient soll auch die Videofunktion nutzbar sein.

Über das MSN-Protokoll kann Pidgin jetzt die sogenannten Ink-Nachrichten und Audioclips empfangen. Bei AIM und ICQ unterstützt Pidgin die neue Authentifizierungsmethode "clientLogin". Wie schon bei anderen Protokollen zeigt die neue Pidgin-Version bei Gadu-Gadu Buddyicons an. Die neue Version soll zudem Probleme mit Yahoo beheben und listet das Yahoo- und das Yahoo-Japan-Protokoll getrennt auf.

Die wichtigsten Änderungen seit der Pidgin 2.5.9 finden sich im Changelog. Außerdem gibt es eine Übersicht über die behobenen Fehler. Pidgin 2.6.1 behebt darüber hinaus einen Fehler, der zum Absturz führte, wenn über Yahoo Links versendet wurden.

Die Mozilla Foundation hat nun auch Thunderbird in einer Version vorgelegt, in der eine Schwachstelle in der Verarbeitung von SSL-Zertifikaten behoben ist. Durch das Einfügen von Nullzeichen in Zertifikaten denken einige Anwendungen, dass etwa das auf w+w.paypal.com\0.thoughtcrime.org ausgestellte Zertifikat zu w+w.paypal.com gehört.

Details zu den Lücken hatten Moxie Marlinspike und Dan Kaminsky auf ihren Black-Hat-Vorträgen enthüllt. In Firefox 3.5.x und 3.0.x sind die Lücken bereits seit mehr als zwei Wochen geschlossen. Andere Softwarehersteller arebiten unterdessen immer noch an Updates für ihre Produkte.
