Boom is a fast and easy to use audio player intended for users who do not wish to spend their time on figuring more sophisticated software out. All of its most important features (gapless playback, ReplayGain support, a convenient structured genre/artist/album/song view of the indexed files, etc.) are easily accessible out-of-the-box.

With a low resources usage, a simple design and a non skinnable interface, Boom supports a variety of popular audio formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Musepack (MPC), WavPack, WAV, AIFF, MP4/M4A and WMA. It also includes a simplified version of the foobar2000 Properties dialog that provides basic tagging capabilities.

Note: when running in portable mode, Boom will index the contents of the folder it is installed in.

The GodFather ist ein Gratis-Programm für das Organisieren und Umbenennen Ihrer MP3-Dateien. Dabei greift das Programm online auf Datenbanken zurück und gleicht dann Ihre Sammlung mit diesen Daten ab. So werden automatisch unvollständige Dateinamen nach Ihren Vorgaben (beispielsweise: Interpret - Album - Titel) ergänzt.

Das Programm nutzt dabei die ID3-Tags (Version 1 und 2) der MP3-Dateien, die unter anderem Infos über den Interpreten, das Album und den Titel beinhalten. Das Umbenennen erfolgt stapelweise. In der Vorschau kann man die Titel auch einzeln bearbeiten oder bestimmte Clips vom Vorgang ausnehmen.

Als Bonus spielt GodFather die Dateien auch ab, fahndet nach Duplikaten und wandelt MP3-Dateien in Ogg-Vorbis um. Auch ein Stapelkonvertieren von MP3-Dateien in eine andere Bitrate ist möglich.

Das Schneidewerkzeug Mp3splt verarbeitet neben MP3s auch Ogg-Vorbis-Dateien. Es zerteilt automatisch mit AlbumWrap oder Mp3Wrap zu Alben zusammengeschnürte Tracks oder nutzt die Titelaufteilung aus einer Online-CD-Datenbank als Schnittliste. Das Programm lässt sich durch Kommandozeilenparameter steuern; wer eine grafische Oberfläche bevorzugt, greift zu Mp3Splt-gtk. Im „Auto-Adjust Mode“ passt Mp3splt Schnittpunkte automatisch anhand von Pausen an. Um die Markierungen per Drag & Drop zu platzieren, muss man zuvor den Audio-Player SnackAmp installieren, mit dem Mp3splt-gtk per TCP kommuniziert. In SnackAmp aktivieren Sie dazu unter Tools/Preferences/Miscellaneous das „Socket Interface“ auf dem voreingestellten Port. Der „Connect“-Knopf in der Menüleiste von Mp3splt-gtk baut dann die Verbindung auf. Liegen SnackAmp und Mp3splt-gtk im selben Verzeichnis, startet die Connect-Schaltfläche bei Bedarf automatisch den Player.

ID3-Tags der Musiksammlung schnell und einfach ändern

Mit dem kleinen, kostenlosen Tool ID3 Renamer bearbeiten und ergänzen Musikfreunde recht komfortabel die ID3-Tags ihrer MP3-Sammlung. Dabei lassen sich auch mehrere Dateien gleichzeitig ändern.

Die Bedienung von ID3 Renamer ist recht simpel: Man wählt einfach den Song-Ordner aus, ändert die gewünschten Informationen, beispielsweise zum Albumtitel, dem Erscheinungsjahr oder zum Künstler. Nun noch ein Klick auf "Go" und die Änderungen werden in die Tags übernommen. Tipparbeit kann man sich sparen, da die Tag-Infos ganzer Alben über gängige Online-Services importiert werden.

Nützlich ist auch die Möglichkeit, mit ID3 Renamer die ID3-Tags im Zusammenhang mit den Dateinamen umzubenennen oder umgekehrt den Dateinamen in die Tags schreiben. Die Freeware eignet sich vor allem für Besitzer größerer Musiksammlungen, die der MP3-Bibliothek schnell und problemlos neue ID3-Tags verpassen möchten.

Subsonic streamt die auf dem PC gespeicherte Musiksammlung an Smartphones oder andere Internet-fähige Geräte. Die Bedienung des kostenlosen und plattformübergreifenden Internet-Musikservers erfolgt dabei über den Webbrowser.

Subsonic unterstützt alle gängigen streambaren Musikformate. Diese können beispielsweise über Winamp und iTunes oder auch über einen Flashplayer wiedergegeben werden. Auf Wunsch lassen sich die Songs in niedrigere Bitraten überführen, um Bandbreite zu sparen. Diverse Optimierungen für schwache Verbindungen stehen zur Verfügung. Playlisten speichert und lädt die Freeware in den gängigen Formaten M3U, PLS und XSPF.
