Die 3.0-Version von VLC soll Videos auf Google Streaming-Stick Chromecast übertragen können. Nun gibt es erste Nightly Builds, die die Funktion (rudimentär) unterstützen.

Die von vielen VLC-Nutzern heiß ersehnte Unterstützung von Googles Streaming-Stick Chromecast soll mit VLC-Version 3.0 kommen. Inzwischen hat das VideoLAN-Team erste Nightly Builds mit der Funktion bereitgestellt. Einen "Cast"-Knopf gibt es bislang nicht, man muss den Chromecast im eigenen Netzwerk im Menü unter Tools/Renderer Output auswählen.

Richtig zuverlässig arbeitet die neue Funktion laut Ars Technica noch nicht – aber es handelt sich ja schließlich auch erst um sehr frühe Entwicklungsversionen, bis zur finalen 3.0-Version wird es noch einige Zeit dauern. Nightlies mit Chromecast-Unterstützung lassen sich hier für Windows (32-/64-Bit) und Linux herunterladen, eine OS-X-Version gibt es bislang nicht.
