Software-Hersteller Opera hat die Beta-Version 5 seines Mobilbrowsers Opera Mini bereitgestellt. Der neue Browser bietet jetzt auch Tabs an, mit denen der Nutzer mehrere Seiten geöffnet halten kann. Neu ist auch eine Schnellwahl-Seite, bei der ganz offensichtlich der Desktop-Bruder Pate gestanden hat. Ein Passwort-Manager sichert Account-Daten, etwa für E-Mail-Konten.

Opera Mini 5 Beta ist für viele Mobiltelefone verfügbar, die Java unterstützen. Opera weist aber darauf hin, dass die Unterstützung für einzelne Telefonmodelle während des Beta-Stadiums noch variieren kann. Eine spezielle Version für Blackberry soll sich nahtlos in die Bedienoberfläche des Smartphones einbetten.

Opera hat eine erste Beta von Version 10.10 seines Browsers vorgestellt. Wichtigster Unterschied zur aktuellen stabilen Version 10.00 ist der integrierte Webserver Opera Unite, der bisher nur als Entwickler-Snapshot erhältlich war. Außerdem liegt nun für das Framework Yusef (Opera Unite's Server Framework), das Entwicklern die Arbeit erleichtern soll, eine Dokumentation mit Tutorial-Charakter vor.

Opera Unite ermöglicht es, einfache Server-Anwendungen auf JavaScript-Grundlage im Browser laufen zu lassen, um beispielsweise Musik, Bilder oder Nachrichten mit Freunden auszutauschen.

Opera hat eine Betaversion von Opera Mobile 10 für Symbian S60 veröffentlicht. Sie soll deutlich schneller arbeiten als die Vorversion. Sie bietet Tab-Browsing und einen Kennwortmanager. Die Bedienoberfläche wurde überarbeitet und bietet mehr Platz für Webseiten.

Die Bedienoberfläche von Opera Mobile 10 für Symbian S60 ähnelt dem Ansatz von Opera Mini 5 Beta, so dass möglichst wenig Bedienelemente stören und vom eigentlichen Inhalt ablenken - den Webseiten. Besonders auf Mobiltelefonen ist der Platz auf dem kleinen Display kostbar und Opera Mobile will diesen Platz besonders effizient nutzen.

Mit der Version 10 unterstützt Opera Mobile für Symbian S60 nun auch Tab-Browsing, um bequem zwischen mehreren geöffneten Webseiten wechseln zu können. Zudem wurde die von Opera bekannte Schnellwahl integriert, um auf die häufig genutzten Lesezeichen zuzugreifen. Außerdem wurde ein Kennwortmanager integriert, der die Anmeldung auf Webseiten komfortabler machen soll.

Opera Mobile 10 nutzt nun die aktuelle Rendering-Engine von Opera, so dass geöffnete Webseiten wie vom Desktop gewohnt auch auf dem Mobiltelefon erscheinen. Zudem soll der Browser deutlich schneller arbeiten als die Vorversion und Opera Turbo soll den Seitenaufbau zusätzlich beschleunigen. Der Browser ist sowohl auf eine Tastaturbedienung als auch auf eine Touchscreen-Steuerung hin optimiert.

Die Betaversion von Opera Mobile 10 für Symbian S60 steht ab sofort als Download zur Verfügung. Vom PC aus kann die passende Version über http://www.opera.com/mobile/next/ heruntergeladen werden, direkt vom Mobiltelefon führt http://m.opera.com/mobile zum Ziel.
