ChateX is a new client-server all in one chat program developed to operate quickly. This is the main program feature, it works fast under all conditions, it also features a fast file transfer which can be paused and resumed, transfer files up to 1000 GB, drag and drop files over a user name in the listbox and on the send textbox on private chat, chat logging, admin controls and other features a chat program needs. ChateX also checks all data when it is received in the client or the server side and if it's not right it will be ignored in the client side and in the server side the user where the data was received from will be automatically kicked. The program can be customized and is useful through Internet and LAN.

Die Cerulean Studios haben heute die finale Ausgabe ihres Multi-Messengers Trillian 5 veröffentlicht. Gleichzeitig gaben die Entwickler bekannt, dass die Funktionen, die bislang kostenpflichtig waren, ab sofort für jedermann frei zur Verfügung stehen.

So kann man jetzt auch ohne Bezahlung neue Themes installieren, um das Aussehen der Software anzupassen. Die Chatprotokolle lassen sich durchsuchen und über einen Kalender zeitlich organisieren. Außerdem kann von mehreren Geräten gleichzeitig gechattet werden, da die Geräteverwaltung sowie der Mehrfachlogin im kostenlosen Trillian 5 integriert sind.

Dennoch bieten die Cerulean Studios ein kostenpflichtiges Abo an. Für 12 US-Dollar pro Jahr wird die Client-Software, die für mehrere Plattformen zur Verfügung steht, von der Werbung befreit. Zudem werden die Gesprächsprotokolle online gespeichert, so dass man auch im Browser darauf zugreifen kann.

Trillian 5 wurde an die Optik von Windows 7 angepasst und lässt sich jetzt in mehreren Stufen verkleinern bzw. vergrößern, je nachdem wie viel Platz man der Anwendung auf dem Desktop einräumen will. Das geschieht mit Hilfe eines Schiebereglers. Vor allem Geräte mit kleinen Displays, beispielsweise Netbooks, profitieren davon.

Neben zahlreichen Instant-Messaging-Netzwerken unterstützt Trillian 5 auch die sozialen Netzwerke Facebook, Twitter und LinkedIn. Hier wurden die News-Feeds optimiert. Zudem werden nun die GPS-Koordinaten von Foursquare ausgewertet. In Kombination mit der GPS-Funktionalität in Windows 7 kann man aus Trillian heraus einchecken und den Aufenthaltsort von Freunden auf einer Karte darstellen.

Trillian steht für Windows und Mac sowie die mobilen Plattformen iOS, Android und BlackBerry zur Verfügung. Die mobilen Apps sollen in Kürze ebenfalls kostenlos angeboten werden. Bislang wurden sie noch nicht aktualisiert. Arbeitet man an fremden Rechnern, kann auf eine Web-Version von Trillian zurückgegriffen werden.
