Waterfox G5.0 Beta 5
« Antwort #2852 am: 24 September, 2022, 11:30 »
Waterfox is a 64-Bit version of Firefox. The Firefox source code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it's compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program.

Changelog

    New:

Added an option to print only the current page from the print preview dialog.
Firefox now supports partitioned service workers in third-party contexts. You can register service workers in a third-party iframe and it will be partitioned under the top-level domain.
Swipe to navigate (two fingers on a touchpad swiped left or right to perform history back or forward) on Windows is now enabled.
Firefox is now compliant with the User Timing L3 specification, which adds additional optional arguments to the performance.mark and performance.measure methods to provide custom start times, end times, duration, and attached details.
Searching in large lists for individual items is now 2x faster. This performance enhancement replaces array.includes and array.indexOf with an optimized SIMD version.

    Fixed:

Stability on Windows is significantly improved as Firefox handles low-memory situations much better.
Touchpad scrolling on macOS was made more accessible by reducing unintended diagonal scrolling opposite of the intended scroll axis.
Firefox is less likely to run out of memory on Linux and performs more efficiently for the rest of the system when memory runs low.
    Various security fixes.

Waterfox G5.0 Final
« Antwort #2858 am: 29 September, 2022, 12:44 »
Changelog

Welcome to the 5th generation of Waterfox.

Automatic updates will slowly start over the next week.

New

You can now toggle to view password you are typing in.

Changed

Due to better understanding of compiler flags, the minimum supported processor version has dropped and is now set at SSSE3[1].
More speed! Waterfox now has further speed improvements on all platforms, with the largest increase on Linux.
You can now Sync your settings.
The search input type is now enabled.

 Notices

If you use custom CSS and JS, you will want to disable Waterfox theme changes by toggling userChrome.theme.enable to false.

Platform changes from G4 ? G5
Media Changes

Full-range color levels are now supported for video playback on many systems.
Mac users can now access the macOS share options from the Waterfox File menu.
Support for images containing ICC v4 profiles is enabled on macOS.
Waterfox now supports the new AVIF image format, which is based on the modern and royalty-free AV1 video codec. It offers significant bandwidth savings for sites compared to existing image formats. It also supports transparency and other advanced features.
Waterfox PDF viewer now supports filling more forms (e.g., XFA-based forms, used by multiple governments and banks).
When available system memory is critically low, Waterfox on Windows will automatically unload tabs based on their last access time, memory usage, and other attributes. This helps to reduce Waterfox out-of-memory crashes. Forgot something? Switching to an unloaded tab automatically reloads it.
To prevent session loss for macOS users who are running Waterfox from a mounted .dmg file, they’ll now be prompted to finish installation. Bear in mind, this permission prompt only appears the first time these users run Waterfox on their computer.
Gecko introduces significant improvements in noise suppression and auto-gain-control, as well as slight improvements in echo-cancellation to provide you with a better overall experience.
You can now toggle Narrate in ReaderMode with the keyboard shortcut "n."
You can now move the Picture-in-Picture toggle button to the opposite side of the video. Simply look for the new context menu option Move Picture-in-Picture Toggle to Left (Right) Side.
Captions/subtitles display on YouTube, Prime Video, and Netflix videos you watch in Picture-in-Picture. Just turn on the subtitles on the in-page video player, and they will appear in PiP.
Picture-in-Picture now also supports video captions on websites that use Web Video Text Track (WebVTT) format (e.g., Coursera.org, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and many more).
HDR video is now supported in Waterfox on Mac—starting with YouTube! Waterfox users on macOS 11+ (with HDR-compatible screens) can enjoy higher-fidelity video content. No need to manually flip any preferences to turn HDR video support on—just make sure battery preferences are NOT set to “optimize video streaming while on battery”.
Hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding is enabled on Windows with supported GPUs (Intel Gen 11+, AMD RDNA 2 Excluding Navi 24, GeForce 30). Installing the AV1 Video Extension from the Microsoft Store may also be required.
Reading is now easier with the prefers-contrast media query, which allows sites to detect if the user has requested that web content is presented with a higher (or lower) contrast.

Security Changes

Waterfox can now automatically upgrade to HTTPS using HTTPS RR as Alt-Svc headers.
Improved web compatibility for privacy protections with SmartBlock 3.0: In Private Browsing and Strict Tracking Protection, Waterfox goes to great lengths to protect your web browsing activity from trackers. As part of this, the built-in content blocking will automatically block third-party scripts, images, and other content from being loaded from cross-site tracking companies reported by Disconnect.
Introducing a new referrer tracking protection in Strict Tracking Protection and Private Browsing. This feature prevents sites from unknowingly leaking private information to trackers.
RLBox—a new technology that hardens Waterfox against potential security vulnerabilities in third-party libraries—is now enabled on all platforms.
The Linux sandbox has been strengthened: processes exposed to web content no longer have access to the X Window system (X11).
Waterfox now ignores less restricted referrer policies—including unsafe-url, no-referrer-when-downgrade, and origin-when-cross-origin—for cross-site subresource/iframe requests to prevent privacy leaks from the referrer.

Operating System Specific Changes

Waterfox for macOS now uses Apple's low-power mode for fullscreen video on sites such as YouTube and Twitch. This meaningfully extends battery life in long viewing sessions.
Power users can use about:unloads to release system resources by manually unloading tabs without closing them.
On Linux, improved WebGL performance and reduced power consumption for many users.
To better protect all Waterfox users against side-channel attacks, such as Spectre, Gecko introduced Site Isolation.
Waterfox supports the new Snap Layouts menus when running on Windows 11.
Reduced CPU usage on macOS in Waterfox and WindowServer during event processing.
Reduced the power usage of software decoded video on macOS, especially in fullscreen. This includes streaming sites such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Waterfox now supports and displays the new style of scrollbars on Windows 11.
Video overlay is enabled on Windows for Intel GPUs, reducing power usage during video playback.
Scrollbars on Linux and Windows 11 won't take space by default. On Linux, users can change this in Settings. On Windows, Waterfox follows the system setting (System Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects > Always show scrollbars).
Waterfox now allows users to use as many microphones as they want, at the same time, during video conferencing. The most exciting benefit is that you can easily switch your microphones at any time (if your conferencing service provider enables this flexibility).

Firemin 9.5.3.8008
« Antwort #2861 am: 02 Oktober, 2022, 10:20 »
Firefox still uses more memory than most other web browsers. Truthfully, the amount it uses is ridiculous. Firefox can use up to 500MBs of memory if you keep it running. In addition, you will see that the memory usage keeps rising because of, you guessed it, memory leaks. Some Firefox users even reported memory usage over 1000MBs. That is half of the memory gone on most computers.

A solution to this issue is Firemin, a simple application that can help you eliminate all the memory leaks of Firefox. Firemin uses a safe API function called EmptyWorkingSet that basically forces the process (in this case Firemin) to use less memory. Other words, tells Firefox to give back some of the system memory it's hanging on to. Using this function will sometimes result in a slight performance decrease measured in milliseconds , but I do mean slight, the chance of you noticing the performance decrease is almost zero.

Whats new:>>

Updated AutoIt to version 3.3.16.1 (19 Septemeber 2022).
    Further Windows 11 compatibility improvements.
Reworked optimization function for better accuracy.
    Implemented Firemin Server functionality.
    Minor bug fixes and enhancements.

    image
Let’s increase the efficiency of webpanel operation!
Switching a web panel to a browser management tool or another web panel no longer unloads the originally displayed web panel!
This makes the select box toggle button work like a tab. Also, the convenience of the user who used it as a music player will increase.
    More fast to change panel
Improved the performance of switching between opening a web panel once, opening browser management tools, and then opening the same web panel again.
In particular, it has been improved to display faster when switching to TST.
Did you forget something? fine! Floorp remembers everything!
Added a button to remember the width size of the browser manager sidebar for each panel.
It will be easier when switching to other panels by remembering it on websites that require width, such as Discord.
The open panel icon is now highlighted in the browser manager sidebar.
Icons float when highlighted, same as Firefox’s Proton UI design.
New localization, Chinese (zh-CN (???)) added
    Thanks!: @benzBrake

    Changed Points:

Browser manager sidebar is now enabled by default for all users.
The Forward, Back, Back to Home, and Reload buttons are no longer displayed when viewing the Browser Management Tools in the Browser manager sidebar.

    Fixed:

Fixed an issue where the Browser Manager Sidebar would interfere with websites opened in the normal viewer, causing the bottom portion of the website to be invisible when using the Browser Manager Sidebar on small screens or high magnification displays did.
Fixed an issue where the panel select box icon was covered due to the large width of the scroll bar on Windows 10.
The select box in the side panel is now hidden when the Floorp itself is fullscreen (including YouTube fullscreen and F11-pressed mutual).
Solved the problem that the “back” button in the browser manager sidebar becomes the “close” button when using Gnome UI, which is designed exclusively for Linux, and Fluent UI, which is exclusively designed for Windows.
Fixed an issue where bookmarks could not be added in Bookmarks Sidebar mode of the Browser Manager Sidebar.
Fixed an issue where the tree-type tab panel in the browser manager sidebar had less context menu.
Various stability, functionality and security fixes.
Various browser code improvements by :@regularenthropy , English translation fixes, new Russian localization!!
