Waterfox is a 64-Bit version of Firefox. The Firefox source code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it's compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program.

    NEW FEATURES:

    Waterfox now uses Oblivious DNS1 by default, a privacy preserving method for DNS queries.

    PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS:

    Waterfox is now compiled with PGO2 on Windows and macOS.
    Waterfox is now compiled with a polyhedral optimiser3.

    MISC:

    Some bugs may be carried over from G5, please report them!
    Themes have been updated, which should fix various bugs.
    Waterfox is now based on ESR115.

    UPCOMING CHANGES:

    Waterfox's logo will potentially be updated in an upcoming beta release, so keep an eye out.
    Alongside an update to the logo, the website is also getting a fresh lick of paint.
    Some more performance oriented upgrades are in testing, but may not make it for final release.
    Waterfox for Android's feature set has been finalised, but requires updating to the latest components. This is in progress and is due for release. iOS is now in the pipeline as well.
    Privacy enhancements to some of the most popular search engines (wink wink, nudge nudge) are also in the pipeline, with more to be revealed soon.
    Linux deserves some love too, and optimisations are in the works for the final release.
    A complete revamp of the config options set by default is also on it's way.
    Apologies for the delay on this release, setting up the privacy relay for ODNS as well as creating the toolchain for polly support took longer than anticipated. Waterfox's independence also contributed to the delay of this release, but it is a delay worth celebrating.

WHAT'S NEW:

Workspaces An excellent feature to manage tabs! Workspace provides "Tab groups" function. Tabs displayed in Floorp can be divided into groups, separating hidden tabs from those to be displayed.
You can delete tabs from workspace & move tabs to other workspaces. It is also compatible with vertical tabs. This feature will be improved in the future. Give us feedback!

Native Vertical Tab:

"TreeStyleTab" delete in Floorp 11. Instead of this, Floorp 11 includes native vertical tab. This allows functions that were only available on horizontal tabs to be used on vertical tabs. In addition, Workspaces functionality can be substituted for "Tree".

Floorp Notes:

Floorp Notes is a feature that allows you to take notes wheb you browse the Web. Floorp Notes has Sync feature. You can sync your notes with your Firefox Account.
Don't worry about missing your notes. Floorp has backup feature for Floorp Notes. You can restore your notes in "about:preferences#notes" page.

Browser Manager Sidebar can add Add-on Panel:

Floorp 11 has new feature for Browser Manager Sidebar. You can add Add-on Panel in Browser Manager Sidebar. Some Add-ons not supported this. ex) side-view...

Privacy Hub has been come back:

On "about:preferences#privacy", You can modify your privacy settings about Resist Fingerpint and Web RTC. If you don't install privacy add-ons, Floorp will show Add-ons recommendation.

"Share mode" is added:

On Reddit & Twitter no less people share their browser screenshot. Floorp 11 has "Share mode" feature. You can hide personal information like "Bookmarks", "History" & "open tabs". You can enable in menubar.

CHANGED:

Floorp 11 is based on Firefox ESR 115. This means Floorp 11 can use Firefox 115's features. But, some there are some differences between Floorp 11 & Firefox 115.
Firefox 115 removes "OSFile.jsm". Floorp 11 still has this.
Firefox 116's feature "Picture-in-Picture's volume control" is available on Floorp 11.
Floorp 11 doesn't support Windows 7, 8 & 8.1. Floorp 11 supports Windows 10 or later.
Mac verison of Floorp has new logo! Thanks to @cutterknife.
on Mac, Floorp supports auto-update feature. You can update Floorp without downloading new installer.

Firefox still uses more memory than most other web browsers. Truthfully, the amount it uses is ridiculous. Firefox can use up to 500MBs of memory if you keep it running. In addition, you will see that the memory usage keeps rising because of, you guessed it, memory leaks. Some Firefox users even reported memory usage over 1000MBs. That is half of the memory gone on most computers.

A solution to this issue is Firemin, a simple application that can help you eliminate all the memory leaks of Firefox. Firemin uses a safe API function called EmptyWorkingSet that basically forces the process (in this case Firemin) to use less memory. Other words, tells Firefox to give back some of the system memory it's hanging on to. Using this function will sometimes result in a slight performance decrease measured in milliseconds , but I do mean slight, the chance of you noticing the performance decrease is almost zero.

    Changed:

    The keyboard shortcut to reopen closed tabs (command + shift + t) now reopens last closed tab or last closed window, in the order items were closed. If there aren't any tabs or windows to reopen, this command restores the previous session. This change is in anticipation of upcoming changes to recently closed tabs.

    Added support for the dirname attribute to pass text directionality information about input and textarea elements to the server. (learn more)
    Firefox now supports CSP3 external hashes.
    The Audio Output Devices API now enables sites to redirect audio from media elements to permitted output devices (speakers) other than the system default for the user-agent.
    For example, WebRTC conferencing sites can now redirect audio either to the speakers in a headset or to external speakers.
    With custom formatters, websites can now define how to display specific JavaScript objects and functions within different parts of the DevTools. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled via the Settings panel. (Learn more)

    Web Platform:

    This release now supports proper BYOB readers on Fetch and WebTransport, which allows developers to prepare their ArrayBuffer so that it can be reused for read requests and thus saves memory allocation. .getReader({ mode: "byob" }) on Fetch and WebTransport streams was supported on previous releases but without true BYOB support, as new memory allocation still occurred internally.
