Waterfox is a 64-Bit version of Firefox. The Firefox source code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it's compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program.

There is now a complete backup of all classic add-ons from the Mozilla Add-On Store, mirrored on the Waterfox CDN. You can use the Classic add-on Archive add-on to view the catalogue. This will be integrated into the next minor Waterfox version (56.3).

The next generation of Waterfox is progressing nicely; you should expect all the performance benefits of modern Firefox with all the customisability of Waterfox and classic Firefox!

Firefox still uses more memory than most other web browsers. Truthfully, the amount it uses is ridiculous. Firefox can use up to 500MBs of memory if you keep it running. In addition, you will see that the memory usage keeps rising because of, you guessed it, memory leaks. Some Firefox users even reported memory usage over 1000MBs. That is half of the memory gone on most computers.

A solution to this issue is Firemin, a simple application that can help you eliminate all the memory leaks of Firefox. Firemin uses a safe API function called EmptyWorkingSet that basically forces the process (in this case Firemin) to use less memory. Other words, tells Firefox to give back some of the system memory it's hanging on to. Using this function will sometimes result in a slight performance decrease measured in milliseconds , but I do mean slight, the chance of you noticing the performance decrease is almost zero.

In this release we updated a few translations. One of our users pointed out; "The lowest is 5MB, which is a little unrealistic by today's standards. Who needs memory consumption to be that low?" So, we listened and increased the "Reduce memory if usage is over X" increments.
Lately we've been experiencing some issue with our download system. I am delighted to report that all issues was resolved. So, nobody should have any trouble, downloading our programs.

One of our users pointed out; "The lowest is 5MB, which is a little unrealistic by today's standards. Who needs memory consumption to be that low?" We removed the low increments, but it turned out that there are many users that still use the lower increments. So, to accommodate them we added 5, 10, 20, and 50 increments to "Reduce memory if usage is over X" again.
We also updated the Spanish translation and added the Hungarian translations.
