hi jm,

i did some quick search (google) nd it seems for some people that dvb-c frequency's of lower signal quality, is that also so with you? You might try to alter frequency to 345500 or 344500 or alike (read some people needed to do that, but not sure ofcourse coz i never used cable actually myself, here at holland we have UPC at most towns nd that's closed system, not possible to view stations at pc). Also try to verify with other apps to see if it's a generic problem with your cable device or smartdvb issue??

Mostly bugfixes nd basic alterations wrt to graphics. Logo's r now transparent which looks kinda ok.
Snoop wrt to your record issues, i'll make some time this week to do more extensive tsts, i'm only single person so first wanted to have next beta out coz there r quite some bugfixes, now onto rc i hope

ok btw someone suggested at my forum to also support the picon enigma logos (which would mean most european logo's r there). I've posted
a thread at my forum with some example logo packs for 192 etc, make sure it's extracted at logos/192 logos/130 etc. Interested to know efficiency of this coz might still require some optimizations.
Also forgot to mention, it's possible now to select different device for each frequency list through add/edit frequency dialog, don't think most here probably would require that (not that much alterations coz
the code already there to switch between dvb-s/t/c just made it more generic now, but still requires tsts ofcourse)..

tested the logos. They show up in the general channel list but not in the favourit list.

Well, I did not try with two tuners for the same purpose yet. Another day perhaps, but for sure after a full system backup.
Such experiments could possibly break the whole BDA stuff, specially when trying on two identical tuners...

Stations from separate tuners, mixed onto the same favs list, are working here anyway, for a pretty along time.

But now it seems, auto tuner changing has become even faster

it's surprising you mention it's gotten quicker, i think the limit factor wrt to that is simply the device initiation time (which might depend a lot on specific bda implementation, i have dvb-t here which simply needs like 2-4 seconds for that) so at some situations not much to be done wrt that.
Anyhow: unrelated query, r there people here with prof7301 or other tbs devices using the recent tbs drivers (late 2012) with issues?, have reports there seem to be issues with bda graph build (normal default tune), would seem odd tbs would alter their drivers to break that somehow..

hi i am usining ur latest version 3.b2 of smartdvb i like this software alot but really am facing a problem after    installing the software main screen open and when i try to roam to menues it hang for 2 seconds the come back again so to open asearch channelist it talkes 60 sec. then hang then come back again and it crashes

The recording problems were related to the graphic card drivers, I could solve that.

But I have another bug: When changing the channel often, SmartDVB stops working. I think, when switching to a HD channel. But I cannot reproduce it really. Just hopping through the channels and then when changing to a HD channel, SmartDVB stops working.

@ioosis: I see u have skystar2. There r some issues with ss2 i think related to install at application data path. Please re-install application at your 'program files' folder nd run it from there. Also make sure it runs with administrator privileges. If you run smartdvb installed at 'program files\smartdvb' folder but it does not execute automatically with administrator priveleges please let me know this because it should run like admin when installed there. Also which codecs etc do you use? If this still does not operate i could send u current .exe to see if the problems r resolved. Also if you were able to send error report, did you send it? If so let me know the name of the report here so i would be able to verify exactly what kind of error u have nd if it's indeed skystar2 related.

@snoop: difficult to know from such description. Did you try different hd codecs with same results? No error report i presume from your description? It might also be possible to enable error reports for such situations btw, where the app doesn't actually have exception but get's unstable (some key combination for example), but have not looked at that yet, not enough time :-)

Right now I'm using the MS Decoders, but I will try different ones and report back.

BTW, this wednesday, MS brought an update mainly for multimedia purposes on Win7, including a h.264 decoding related component.
Normally this will occur automatically.

If having new issues with SmartDVB then, re-do the codec selection, close SmartDVB, start it again.
If thios does not help at once, reboot the machine again.

Seems to be working better than before here, using MS DVD / DTV decoders.
Faster stabilization after channel change, V synch improved.
Perfect hardware accelleration here.

Alternatively I could also use MainConcept AVC/h.264 for HD here, but this one causes around 25 Watts of extra power consumption, without any poositive effect on picture quality. So why on earth...

Das gestrige MS Windows Update bringt eine umfassende Revision diverser Multimedia-Komponenten für 7, h.264 eingeschlossen.
Wird normalerweise automatisch angeboten.

Sollten anfangs Probleme mit SmartDVB auftreten, dort die Codec-Einstellungen wiederholen, SmartDVB neu starten.
Wenn das nicht sofort fruchtet, nochmals den Rechner neu starten.

Anscheinend wird die Arbeitsweise der MS DVD / DTV Decoder positiv beeinflusst.
Schnellere Stabilisation nach Umschalten und stabilere Vertikal-Synchronisation sind mir aufgefallen.
Und die Hardware-Unterstützung kann hier nur als perfekt angesehen werden.

MainConcept AVC/h.264 hätte ich hier zwar auch, aber ohne jede erkennbare Bildverbesserung braucht der Rechner damit bei HD etwa 25 Watt mehr. Och nö...

i would like to apologize for my poor English in describing the full problem although i am just beginner comptia A+plus certified not a programmer
also i am facing difficulties  roam on the page cause i do not know the German language as soon as i can i will attach the crash report
again
1- using win8  32 bit pro activated verion
2-2gb memory with amd phenom x550 3.1 mghz
3-built in vga adapter on board of gigabyte gmt785 us2h  with latest bios beta update
the only codec i use is which main concept codec  for sd and hd and is it truly consume all 25watt of power wht do you recommend to use for the best quality picture
and divx plus codec
on first run it crashed then
after installing the smart  dvbs with administrator previlage and when the main screen of the program opens i difficulty can roam to the menus of the smartdvb cause it freezes every two seconds for two or three seconds

Hi,

Like i mentioned i think the beta´s got some issues still with devices which use skystar.dev module.
I´ll send you pm with current tst. I should have been more clear about the error report, you should be able to send that if the app hangs/crashes. I should have name like for example '5a63c88e-8a15-4212-b220-b3079c56e468.zip' where the long cipher is just a guid (unique identifier to make each crash report different). Anyhow, i'll send u tst which also includes skystar.dev (which you should copy over ur current existing skystar.dev module at your devices folder (located at 'c:\program files\smartdvb\devices\skystar.dev', where ofcourse the install path might be different for you (not c: for example etc).

Indeed that fact that u mention the app crashes at startup would indicate that you have a problem i've seen with other skystar.dev users so i hope ur issues r resolved, but we'll see ofcourse.
