okay thanks! And no snoop no real changes since the last test ( as i named that final so seems logical to me ). So hopefully i can go forward with this in the future too would be stupid to just let well the knowledge and following i have by now just vanish like that as if it's not an investment or whatever, i mean if it would have turned out to be a piece of garbage i could have imagined people saying that, but on the contrary so hence i do not really understand the attitude here also in some form of mental control and what the underlying reason is remains somehwat of a guess to me (although ofcourse as others things can probably be imagined which one should rather not say)..

Thanks a lot for all your effort.
Great result, in fact.

Never before I've had a 0.* version as my default DVB application, but already your 0.25 is better than some well known 6.whatsoever, and yours comes without any nasty restrictions.

Well, I am not a native English speaker, but normally I am getting along without any trouble.
However, starting with "i do not really understand the attitude here...", it seems I don't really get the message  umpf

Be assured, there's no mental control here in any way.
Just enthusiastic users, a few careful mods and admins, all being active here for free.
And our board rules strictly forbid to try and force developers or anything similar.
This is a place to peacefully meet other hobbyists, get assistance or help others or discuss in a friendly way, no more, no less.
Some of us are here for up to nine years now, and of course they have gathered quite some knowledge, though mainly from the user's point of view.
We've seen a lot of DVB software come and go.
But even in this fast changing world, most of us would really like to stay with just (or mainly) one fine application, for as long as ever possible.

Definitely this does not mean, we would want anybody to spend all his time on programming freeware for us, not at all.
No demanding, no forcing, no begging...

So we are really thankful for being allowed to use your fine product, and of course we will always provide the best possible feedback in return.

First of all jackjavo, a huge thanks for the hard work you invested in a program which is by now running almost every day on my desktop. Thanks for all the big and little improvements you made to the program to please many people here on the cube forum (a special thanks included from my very personal side for the CAM section of the program  :) )! I felt sorry when you mentionned that you even ran into kinds of personal problems for the stress that the development of the program brought into your private life. I do sincerely hope that the worst is over and maybe somebody knows a place where you can relax  ;) ! Finally, I hope that these lines:

Zitat
but on the contrary so hence i do not really understand the attitude here also in some form of mental control and what the underlying reason is remains somehwat of a guess to me (although ofcourse as others things can probably be imagined which one should rather not say)..

were not caused by some remarks from my side or others on this forum (I simply did not understand them  :embarassed: ).

Whereas, I draw great hope from this sentence:

Zitat
So hopefully i can go forward with this in the future too would be stupid to just let well the knowledge and following i have by now just vanish like that as if it's not an investment or whatever,

Just a question about the install procedure (more precisely: it's result) jackjavo:
Whereas my bda.dev is dated 08.04.2012, my smartdvb.exe is dated 15.03.2012. Are these dates correct or did I a mistake installing the
new files over the old ones? Thx

oh that's odd ritchibie, maybe the creation date is somehow not changed  there, never wondered about that and it for surely worked in the past on re-installs. Maybe you can check the file properties for file modification time also thanks for the kind remarks lol and sorry for being cryptic sometimes, but maybe sometime i can explain more regards..

ok, thanks jackjavo for reminding me about ckecking the file properties (yeah, I'm getting old  ;) ). "file properties" tells me that the exe was created on March 15, last change was on March 15. File size is 2.983 KB. If the file size is correct maybe I can go on without deinstalling and reinstalling smartdvb? I wanted to do a "dummy" installation in a new directory I named smarttest but msi just allowed me to "repair" or "deinstall" the program.

Thx for taking care

Hello Jackjavo,

many thanks for this fine version which does almost erverything I like. I also had few problems when I installed the version. I used the msi to install over the old version and for some reason some files were not replaced. Somehow the installer found some files being used for running Smart although they were not shown as processes. I then restarted the PC and immediately used the setup.exe for repair and this worked fine.

Take care!

Danke, dada. Werde das jetzt mal mit der smartdvb.exe machen (umbenennen), mal sehen, ob nach dem "repair" sich die Dateigröße ändert.

Edit: Jo, hat 1 KB gebracht! Vorher 2983, jetzt 2984 KB...

okay then, odd this re-install problem, can't imagine something there but i will look (also strange this didn't happen in earlier tests as nothing really has been changed installer wise). Sorry abou the confusion 'jurgen' about the here, that was not forum related let's say but more related to what ritchibie says my personal living situation. Well and about the place let's say, only if it's private and i can have females by my side.

Suppose you won't find all to many females around here.
Anyway, real life is far more important, of course.

BTW, in fact I have never tested installing the latest version over an older one.
This is not my standard procedure for test versions.
Only did a fresh install on a second machine occasionally.

To avoid possible trouble and eventual datas loss the best possible way, on updates I always moved all files and sub folders to a new backup folder, then installed the new version to the old folder.
Then I just copied the relevant database files back to the original place.
So if I had found anything going wrong, I would have had the chance, to either try one more time or simply clean the folder again and copy back the whole stuff from the backup folder.
This way eventual registry entries or links / icons should not be effected.

That is exactly what I usually do. I save the whole directory to a new folder an then install the new one over the old one. If things go wrong I can copy back step by step and find the problem.

Hi again. Okay i looked at this and it seems to be a problem with the file having the same versioning as RC1, so this actually should also have happened with the tests, oddly it just got noticed on the release, figures ofcourse :-).
So not i changed the internal resource version and tested it. You can download it again if needed from the smartdvb.net site, but most here are clever enough to circumvent these things. Other than that i haven't heard any new bugs so maybe this long test-run, beit perhaps too long, was not that bad after all.

Just wanted to give a feedback here after 3 days of intense testing:

So far everything is absolutely running free of errors. I send smartdvb into the tray when I change to other tasks. Remember, my task bar was not the best place for closing the smartdvb window  ;). No recording problems on free and crypted programs, easy way to set one's aspect ratio to full blown, etc..

Excellent result for your hard work jackjavo! I hope that you enjoy now the compliments from users  :)
