Untersucht das RAM auf Fehler, basiert auf Memtest86.

Stürzt das System etwa sporadisch ab oder bootet der PC gelegentlich nicht, ist der Arbeitsspeicher neben unzureichender CPU-Kühlung der Hauptverdächtige. Um die RAM-Riegel von der Schuld freizusprechen, unterzieht man sie durch Eingabe von "M" im Bootmenü der CD einem ausführlichen Test mit Memtest86++. Es hat einen eigenen kleinen Betriebssystemkern und so den ganzen Arbeitsspeicher für sich. Memtest86++ sollte man mindestens einige Stunden oder besser ein oder zwei Tage am Stück laufen lassen. Bei kürzeren Tests bleiben viele, gegebenenfalls in der unteren Hälfte des Bildschirms aufgelisteten Speicherfehler unentdeckt. Doch auch ein erfolgreich durchlaufener Test von einigen Tagen ist nur ein ziemlich guter Hinweise auf korrekt arbeitenden Speicher und kein Garant dafür: Manche Fehler treten nur bei sehr speziellen Zugriffsmustern auf oder stehen in Wechselwirkungen mit anderen PC-Komponenten.
