Install and first test of the SmartDVB 0.2.1 Beta
« Antwort #92 am: 28 November, 2011, 13:12 »
Did this 2 days ago but found no time to write about the results. So, here we go:

Setup was quick (about 5 min) and flawless. I uninstalled a previous version of SmartDVB first but did no reboot.
The program itself showed my old scan results from the previous installation (Astra and Hotbird).
Scanned again Hotbird (scanning time in SmartDVB window showed 5:41 min).
Got 1474 video, 411 audio and 121 data channels, more than with DVBViewer!

A quick check with randomly zapped channels gave good tuning results, no problems with video nor audio.
I failed in scanning Astra 19,2 east. Tried triggering every knob in the program - no way to get a scan on this sattelite!
Maybe somebody has a clue to this problem showing me the fastest way to get the Astra channels updated?
Anyway, I then used my old program-list and succeded to tune in a bunch of channels. Only the "ARD" programs
failed totally to show up on the screen.

A very good program that has nice features and easy to use menu (except for me, failing completely in updating
Astra channels). One thing I could not test was the CI feature (I have a Sky Germany abo with Alphacrypt Light
and a Nagra smartcard).

Will test again as soon as I have a workaround for updating Astra!

EDIT: Got the "workaround" by simply choosing "BDA" device and not "Florian"! Now I can tune all HD programs FTA...Nice view  :)

@ritschibie: shouldn't make a difference for the scanning really if you select bdas or bda, so odd. What is your switch setup? If it's cascaded you might want to enable 'send diseqc on each transponder change' in the diseqc settings as this provides correct switch operation in such cases.

About ci. Implementation for this atm is very limited and only technotrend and twinhan support is there, but from what i gathered in the past this doesn't even work correctly for all tt users especially it seems, probalby timing related or whatever as i think the actual PMT sending code is okay. Users have asked about technisat ci support etc, but specifications for these things are unfinadable to me so far...

jack
(you can download updated .exe/dev/smaravsrc.ax at smartdvb forum, i'd put up the links here too but i'll await if your problem is solved, some other users had hangs etc so if you experience that might as wel update too)

ok tx silencer. Had already read about this local search functionality, and realise this can be a major security issue ofcourse. On the other hand, adding implementation would not necessarily run madvr, just when selected as renderer i guess so people would have choice, but may not be aware of this ofcourse so madvr should at least be able to turn this off?? Otherwise what would be the reason to force this on users would also be my thought. Nevertheless, implementation is not trivial probably so would not have happened any time soon anyway :-)

Thats the point ... so...for me ..there is no reason to use or support madvr ...

@jackavo: thx for the advice. I could test now the Alphacrypt light and the sky smartcard in my TT 3200. Unfortunately, on my system it does not work. I have no difficulties in running the smartcard with the DVBViewer. Until we have no members here that use the CI implementation on their TT 3200 with an AC light and a smartcard my tests cannot be proven right or wrong. I still have problems in changing the channels from one sat to the other when I select the Florian BDA (using the BDA driver I get no difficulties at all).

HD picture is very good and my cyberlink codecs work very well in the smartdvb. Keep on running jackavo and thx for the program! :)

@richibie: oh i should have mentioned. CI support is only there in bda.dev (Florian). I switched to bda.dev as the main bda module a while back and have
not updated bdas.dev for a while. Are you sure you're using the last beta 5 version available from the site? And also i have some fix in there which might
also fix your problems in case of sat switching, maybe especially if you're using a rotor? I'll include a link here to some updated components (smartdvb.exe,
smartavsrc.ax and bda.dev), simply copy them over your current beta 5 install files.

hxxp://www.smartdvb.net/smartdvb/download/smartdvbupdate.rar

(change xx in http when cutting and pasting).

Or if you're using cascaded switches for scanning especially enable 'send diseqc on each transponder' in settings.

since there seem to be some power users of smart here i'll post this query here too. Some users are experiencing freezes after hours of single stream viewing? Anyone here experienced that, or not? (not everyone is gonna be able to test that i realise)..

« Antwort #102 am: 05 Dezember, 2011, 21:24 »
@jackavo: I downloaded the three (3) files and put the .exe into the root folder of programme/smartdvb, one in the filter and the last one in the device folder. I restarted smartdvb
and chose the Florian bda driver. I tried for two hours to decrypt the "Sky" stream but the picture remained black (only epg was seen).

I have a dual lnb dish with quadro setting. I'll try tomorrow the "das erste HD" stream and let it run for 6 hours. I'll post the result in the evening.

Thx

Did not have any freezes yet, with beta 5.
But I also did not yet let it run for hours all to often, as I am working intensively on my LNBs, cables and switches ATM.

And to avoid ruining my tuners, of course I'm powering them down then.
Will for sure need a couple of days more to finish.
A service interval of almost fifteen years, that's OK for me.
And there are some small changes to be implemented, like more user ports for my flat.
Even more cables through the unused chimneys, now running into different rooms, plus Cat.7 and alike.

Anyway, I am having a beginners issue here.
And in fact I must confess being quite a beginner on both, SmartDVB and 7 Pro SP1 x64...

Each time I am starting SmartDVB, Windows complains about "unknown publisher"  ???

Can this be avoided somehow?
Like, should I better have used a non-default install path?

Don't have to much experience with installing software on 7, as most is in portable versions here, also accessible from XP.
And original software from hardware vendors often comes without a certificate, requiring "install anyway", but no such complaints there after.

BTW, you may have seen my avatar elsewhere already, but with a different user name.
There were some good reasons for this, a few years ago.
