oh okay ritshibie, shame. I did some shorter tests and already saw some instability problems, and for me they got better it seems (less than an hour though). But i'll do some 2+ hours tests then (problem ofcourse here is that i can't program much while running such tests, i hope this isn't some kind of neverending story). I don't think it's a memory problem had not noticed that and i regulary check these things..

I just hinted at some timeshift issues. But, anyway it is definitely connected to the recording issue. I had the program now running 2:15 hrs in the tray without reocrding and I have no problem at all when I make a call. Next test I'll do (just to better define the cause of the problem) is recording manually over 2 hours. Maybe you can wait with your own test until midnight?

All problems on my PC were - until now - caused by time set recording.

I would like to help here. I usually do recordings using the DVBV RS. When I understand correctly, recordings longer than 2 hrs with Smart in the tray create problems like mysteriously Smart disappearing. I will test this tomorrow.

hi well yes it happened here too again, but this time after 2:15 hours of recordings the smartdvb window was gone, and in the log i see no indication of what happened, no cleanup code whatsoever just a dissapeared smartdvb, very odd. I will need to look better at this then (didn't read your reply ritshibie as i went to do other things after starting the recording)...

RAM should not be an issue, as I have 8 GB in here.
And no other application is effected, even if SmartDVB runs into trouble.
Just tested with WMP and a FullHD .ts file in exactly that situation, worked well.
So also other multimedia functions aren't touched at all.

However, the new executable did not really solve the tray issue, but it changed it in a strange way here.

First try with a recording (starting 5min ahead and lasting 1h 5min) made a cmd window appear for fractions of a second, exactly the moment the recording was supposed to start. It did not allow  to read anything in there, as it closed automatically.
Recording worked for around half an hour, then opened a floating video in the upper left corner in the foreground, with recording related OSD info inside, that froze at once and could be wiped out by moving any other window.
The file recorded ended exactly at that moment, as I found out later.
However, I did not interfere until the scheduler would have finished normally, to give it a chance.
Afterwards I re-opened the SmartDVB window, and it was fully functional.

So I decided to do a second test, without restarting the computer, scheduled to start after 5min and then run for 2h 10min.
This time no CMD popup to be noticed.
After 34 minutes the floating video reappeared as before.
This time I opened the SmartDVB window, that seemed to work normally, and minimized to tray again.
Another floating video window appeared at scheduler run time 1h 04min, without any OSD info.
Again opened SmartDVB window, resulting in strange GUI effects, see my screen shot attached.
BTW, the tray icon symbol had disappeared, leaving empty space, but it's context menu still working.

Closed and restarted SmartDVB, all back to normal.

Did not find anything being logged in SmartDVB.
Then I've had a deep look into Windows protocols.
Nothing in there, except of the usual stupid ATI messages, complaining about graphics fan speed, though it's a fan less model...
No trace of any application, system or safety event.

well i just dug into the tray code and there is something that´s not there yet, versioning information about tray version used (seems you can also set version information for tray regarding pre win2000, post win2000, and post vista, something like that), can´t find any information saying that could/would mess things up but it's probably not there for nothing (i should have looked at this before i guess, but being optimizing the system again and programming at the same time is not an optimal combination i guess) so i'll change some things there and continue testing (just letting you guys know as you're quite into this also concerning research it seems )...
edit: and btw, if you seem to imagine feminine traits in smart well, you might just have a point there :)

Okay jackjavo, I'll just uncheck for some time the "minimizing to tray" box and wait what you will find out about the tray behaviour and possible workarounds.

It's a wonderful product  :)

Jurgen and Rischibie you have pm with the latest tray icon test.
I ran some longer tests as it was a football evening anyways :-). For me it looks like the changes made a difference this time, HD recording of +3 hours without much problems for me i the tray, although i didn't test crypted channels.
and thanks ritchibie, i myself enjoy using this now too :)
edit: and i only tested on win7 and xp should also be tested on this (and i've also sent this test to you dada, maybe you have xp can't really remember)..

I have both on the same machine, 32bit XP and 64bit 7.
The second machine needs some urgent fixes and is not supposed to be working again within this week.

So, of course, testing on both OS requires even more time.
May take up to friday then.

okay Jurgen no problem. I do have another pc available (old core2 duo, with p5bdeluxe board, no xp there atm), but don't really like testing on it as it's a very energy consuming machine (even over-clocked) as as you i have to take care financially.

Thx jackjavo,

Got the new executable and installed it in my "smartdvbtest" directory. Next I started the program and set the timer to 2 hrs. and no particular action at the end:

;Feuer1

It stopped the recording after the two hours with no freezing or visible alterations in the program window. Whatever you have done, it worked on Vista with a TT 3200 S2 and
a crypted channel. I had even the screen saver running!

Congratulations from my side! :)

thanks ritchibie, but that's too much credit to be honest, but i do like your expressions let's say, they kinda make me laugh..
i'll await jurgens reply. And btw any of you testing dvb-t or alike, i think there are still some bugs there with the new NoSignal processing so i'll look at that next. And well see if i can release this soon then.
I think silencer does dvb-c, but not sure if dvb-t (dvb-c probably also has issues there), hope silencer is not offline coz of bad reasons btw (maybe just a nice vacation)..

Hi Jackjavo, I tried the first recordings today with the previous version (not the one you sent recently). Funny thing. I double-clicked the recording from EPG and the scheduler window opened. I adjusted times for a recording more than 2 hours and then clicked ok. This caused an immediate crash of Smart, but the recording started anyway at the set time. Recording proceeded for about 90 minutes and then stopped with the icon in the tray disappearing. This is no new finding but the crash was surprising. I am running 64 bit W7!

Next I will try the new exe!
