WinToUSB is a free software that allows you to install and run Windows operating system on a USB hard drive or USB flash drive, using an ISO image or CD/DVD drive as the source of installation. If you have a Windows installation source (a DVD disc, an image file) and a valid Windows product key, you can use WinToUSB to install Windows on your USB drive.

WinUSB Maker erstellt bootfähige USB-Sticks und integriert auf Wunsch auch gleich die komplette Windows-Installation. Zudem erstellt die Freeware auch DOS-Bootsticks und integriert mit einem Klick einen Bootmanager.

Um einen bootfähigen USB-Stick zu zaubern, bedarf es mit WinUSB Maker nur eines kleinen Aufwands: Man nehme einen USB-Stick, die Software und zudem ein Windows Installationsimage (zum kostenlosen Windows Image Download) oder eine Windows CD. Das Image oder die CD wird nun als "Setup Folder" angegeben, Bootmanager anwählen oder nicht, Erstellung starten, fertig.

Softwares zum Erstellen bootfähiger USB-Medien sind mitunter recht kompliziert. WinUSB Maker macht den Einstieg etwas günstiger und ist durchaus für Anfänger geeignet. Nebenbei erstellt die Frweware noch Backups kompletter USB-Sticks inklusive Bootsektor (MBR). Kurzum: Empfehlenswert.

Zum Entpacken des Downloads ist ein 7-zip-fähiger Packer notwendig.

WinSetupFromUSB is a Windows program, which prepares multiboot USB flash or fixed disk to install any Windows versions since 2000/XP, boot various Linux and *BSD flavors, as well as many Windows, Linux, DOS based and other utilities.

UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux, without requiring you to burn a CD. You can either let it download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you've already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn't on the list.

Requirements

    * Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista, or Linux. If you are having trouble with the Linux version, try the Windows version, it usually works better.
    * A broadband internet connection to download the distribution's .iso file (unless you're using pre-downloaded files)

"WBICreator" (Windows Bootable Image Creator) is a free and portable utility created by AskVG reader "Shashi Kumar Sinha" which allows you to create bootable ISO image file of Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 setup.

You just need to give any desired name to ISO image file, select the folder containing Windows setup files and select the target folder which will store the new ISO file and you are done. Just sit back and the bootable ISO image file will be created automatically within a few minutes which can be burned on a disk using any CD/DVD burning software.
