This utility scans the passwords stored by popular Windows applications (Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and more...) and displays security information about all these passwords. The security information of every stored password includes the total number of characters, number of numeric characters, number of lowercase/uppercase characters, number of repeating characters, and password strength. You can use this tool to determine whether the passwords used by other users are secured enough, without watching the passwords themselves.

System Requirements

This utility works on any version of Windows, starting from Windows 2000 and up to Windows 10.

Currently, Password Security Scanner scans the passwords of the following applications:

Known Limitations

    Password Security Scanner cannot scan the passwords of Firefox if they are protected by a master password.
    The dialup passwords of Windows can only be detected if you run Password Security Scanner with administrator privileges.

Password Safe is a password database for storing sensitive information in an encrypted form until the correct master password is entered. The database is encrypted with the Twofish encryption algorithm. You can copy a password into the clipboard and paste it directly into your application. Alternatively, Password Safe supports "Auto Type" that enters the username and password into the target application by simulating keystrokes.

Bugs fixed in V3.39:

An empty group is now correctly changed to a normal group when an entry is copied into it via Drag & Drop.
Duplication of an alias or shortcut base entry now correctly results in a normal entry.

Changes to Existing Features in V3.39:

The group will be saved as an "empty group" when the last entry with this group value is deleted. This is similar to the action of the filesystem when the last file within a folder/directory is deleted.
Double click on a word in the Notes field, e.g. for copy & paste, now no longer includes any trailing spaces. This is different to the standard Microsoft processing in their products.
