neues Problem. Nachdem dist-upgrade eine ganze Weile entpackt und ersetzt hat kam die Aufforderung die DVD... binary2 einzulegen. Die Aufforderung Auswerfen wird zwar akzeptiert, Lade öffnet sich, aber das Symbol von DVD1 auf dem Desktop verschwindet nicht und ein Fenster mit dr Meldung -umount: /cdrom scheint mehrfach eingehängt zu sein- erscheint. Die neu eingelegte DVD2 wird nicht akzeptiert. Wie kann man die Bindung lösen?

PS nun ist Firefox festgegangen. Mußte abbrechen. Allerdings sind etliche Programme warscheinlich schon ganz oder teilweise aktualisiert. Manche bringen Fehlermeldungen.
Werde morgen alles noch mal machen.
Wie kann man das Problem mit dem mehrfach Einhängen der DVD lösen falls das wieder passiert?

nach einigem Überlegen usw hab ich apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade und apt-get -f install hinbekommen. Das erste was nach dem Neustart auffiel, Firefox war weg. Hat ne Weile gedauert bis ich das Firfox/ Iceweasel Problem erkannt hatte. Ist nun estens leider superlahm und zweitens in englisch. Das entsprechende Sprachpaket ist, wie könnte es auch anders sei 9Mb groß. Könnte das auch auf den DVDs sein und wie findet man dort so was?
Muß nach dem großen Update noch etwas anderes durchgeführt werden, damit es rund läuft?

ja, aber erst mal ohne Plugins. Version 0.8.3 wird angezeigt. Woher bekommst du die Informationen über die genauen Bezeichnungen der Pakete, Dateien, usw her? Kann man doch nie alles im Kopf haben? Ist mir alles zimlich unklar. Fängt schon bei der genauen Schreibweise der Befehle an. Womit fängt man am sinnvollsten an sich das einzuprägen und den Sinn dahinter zu erkennen. Ich glaube nicht, daß ich das gerade gelöste Problem in drei Wochen noch ohne nachzusehen reproduzieren kann.

werd ich gleich probieren. Hab gestern, nachdem ich das etch-Update nun hinbekommen hatte, gleich -./configure && make && sudo make install gemacht. Das Ergebnis, alles genau wie beim ersten Versuch vor ca 2 Wochen. ,/configure wird mit dem Hinweis auf fehlende X libraries abgebrochen???
Hab mal versucht dem Beitrag kaffeine & plugins zu folgen, aber komme damit nicht klar. Warscheinlich ist es bei den Linuxern noch angesagter mit Kürzeln um sich zu werfen als bei den Windowern.

X steht (höchstwahrscheinlich) für den X-Server, das ist die komponente von linux, die sich um die graphik ausgabe kümmert.

vermutlich heist das fehlende paket irgendwas mit xorg lib (und ev. devel), sollte aber normalerweise auf der website genauer stehen.

hab das fertige Paket mit Paketmanager installiert. In kaffeine ist jetzt unter DVB einrichten/ DVB Plugins ein Weichkamm 0.3.1. eingetragen. Muß mir jetzt warscheinlich eine komplette Transponderliste suchen.

ich weis nicht wie du mit Linux angefangen hast, aber mir fehlen einfach die Grundlagen. Die apt howto setzt Vorkenntnisse voraus die man sich im Netz schlecht beschaffen kann, finde ich jedenfalls. Zumindest nicht wenn man nicht weis wo man anfangen soll. Ein Buch wäre nicht schlecht aber im Handel gibts nicht so viel über Linux und auf Verdacht im Netz kaufen??
Danke dir aber das du so viel Gedult mit mir gehabt hast.

jetzt hast du ein Kanotix basierend auf Debian Etch/Stable auf neuesten Stand...!!!
um jetzt Pakete kompelieren zu können sollte dein System folgende Pakete haben:

Mal eine grundsätzliche Frage nebenbei. Wäre es nicht sinnvoller gewesen ein Etch oder Ubuntu komplett neu zu installieren ?
