Wozu alle im eigenen PC verbauten Komponenten aufzählen, wenn ein einziger Wert reicht: Das Benchmark-Ergebnis. Die Spezialisten von Futuremark (3D Mark) haben nun PCMark05 veröffentlicht. Im Gegensatz zu 3DMark steht bei diesem Benchmark nicht nur die Grafik- und Spieleperformance im Mittelpunkt, sondern die Performance des gesamten Systems. Der Vorgänger PCMark04 stammte noch aus dem Jahre 2003.
Drei Versionen stehen zur Auswahl: PCMark05 Basic ist Freeware und liefert nur einen limitierten Funktionsumfang. PCMark05 Advanced hat mehr Funktionen (beispielsweise Festplattentests, Speichertests und erweiterte System-Tests) und kostet dafür auch 19,95 US-Dollar. Für den professionellen Einsatz ist PCMark05 Professional gedacht, dass neben allen Funktionen auch Routinen für automatische Testreihen beinhaltet. Der Preis: 199,95 US-Dollar.
Die Free-Variante bringt 75 MB auf die Downloadwaage. Zu den Voraussetzungen gehören: Windows XP, 110 MB freier Speicherplatz, DirectX 9.0c, Internet Explorer 6.0, Media Player 10, Media Encoder 9 und 128 MB Speicher. Die kostenlose Version ermittelt einen "PCMark"-Score, der sich auch über den Online-Service von Futuremark mit den Ergebnissen anderer Anwender vergleichen lässt. Darüber hinaus liefert "PCMark05 Basic" auch ausführliche Systeminformationen.

Laut Futuremark sind 90 Prozent aller Anwender mit langsamen Browsern unterwegs
Mit dem Peacekeeper-Benchmark erweitert der finnische Entwickler Futuremark sein Portfolio an Benchmarkprogrammen. Statt die Geschwindigkeit eines Rechners zu testen, soll der Anwender des Benchmarks kostenlos den eigenen Browser testen können.
Für Futuremark ist die Entwicklung eines Browserbenchmarks ein neues Feld, beschäftigt sich das Unternehmen doch hauptsächlich mit 3D-Entwicklungen in Form des 3DMark Vantage oder in Form des 3D-Shooters Shattered Horizon.
Der Peacekeeper-Benchmark ist der erste Browserbenchmark von Futuremark und hat die Betaphase verlassen. In der Betaphase hatte der Entwickler bereits fleißig Statistiken erstellt und kam zu dem Ergebnis - basierend auf dem eigenen Benchmark -, dass 90 Prozent aller Anwender mit den langsamsten Browser unterwegs sind. Namentlich sind das der Internet Explorer und Firefox.
Die Nase vorn haben in den Peacekeeper-Statistiken die aktuellen Betaversionen von Chrome 2.0 und Safari 4.0, gefolgt von Chrome 1.0 und der Beta 4 von Firefox 3.5. Dabei erzielte das schnellste System mit Chrome v2.0.172.23 insgesamt 5595 Punkte, während der Internet Explorer 8 maximal 1155 Punkte erreicht.

Der finnische Software-Entwickler Futuremark hat neue Versionen seiner Benchmarks 3DMark und PCMark zum Download freigegeben. Sie werden als Updates für den Monat Juni bezeichnet und enthalten überwiegend Bugfixes.
Die neuen Versionen, die jeweils als Vollversion und Update erhältlich sind, aktualisieren die Komponenten für die Hardware-Erkennung und arbeiten so auch mit den neuesten Prozessoren und Grafikkarten zusammen. Futuremark betont, dass sich das Bewertungssystem nicht verändert hat. Die erhaltene Bewertung in "3DMarks" bleibt also weiterhin vergleichbar. Die Versionsnummer der einzelnen Produkte ändert sich mit diesen Juni-Updates nicht.

PCMark, dessen erste Version 2002 erschien, prüft in erster Linie die Leistung des Prozessors und bewertet zudem die Lese- und Schreibgeschwindigkeiten des verbauten Speichers. Mit PCMark Vantage stellte Futuremark im Jahr 2007 erstmals eine Ausgabe der Software vor, die ausschließlich unter Vista lauffähig ist und speziell dafür zugeschnittene Tests durchführt.
Von allen Benchmarks des Herstellers stehen kostenlose Demo-Versionen zum Download zur Verfügung, deren Funktionen aber teils stark beschnitten sind. Der Grafikkarten-Benchmark FurMark (http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/) ist in Version 1.7.0 erschienen, die eine Reihe neuer Funktionen und Fehlerbereinigungen enthält. So kann FurMark nun mit GPU-Z zusammenarbeiten und dessen Temperaturen und Angaben über die Stromversorgung von Grafikkarten anzeigen, sofern die verwendete Karte dies unterstützt. Bei mehreren GPUs erhält jeder Grafikchip seine eigene Temperaturanzeige.

Der Ablauf des Tests lässt sich nun jederzeit per Leertaste anhalten und wieder starten. Experimentell ist ein Feature, der es erlaubt, das Benchmark-Ergebnis direkt an einen Twitter-Account zu schicken. Probleme mit der Temperatur-Anzeige und Multithreading wurden behoben.

Unigine Heaven ist der erste Benchmark, der von der DirectX-11-Funktion Hardware Tesselation Gebrauch macht. Tessellation steigert nachträglich die geometrischen Details vorhandener Spielobjekte. Die zusätzlichen Dreiecke erzeugt dabei nicht die CPU, sondern der DirectX-11-fähige Grafikchip. Im Benchmark lässt sich die Tessellation-Funktion per Druck auf F3 an und abschalten, das Drahtgittermodell ist mit F2 über den Bildschirm zuschaltbar. Dafür ist eine DirectX-11-Grafikkarte in Verbindung mit Windows 7 (beziehungsweise zukünftig auch Vista mit DirectX-11-Update) erforderlich. Wer keine solche Grafikkarte sein eigen nennt, kann sich zumindest ein Beispielvideo anschauen.

Auch AMDs Eyefinity-Technik der HD-5000-Serie, über die der Bildschirminhalt auf mehr als zwei Bildschirme gestreckt werden kann, unterstützt der Unigine-Heaven-Benchmark. Weitere Features sind "Screen-space ambient occlusion", volumetrische Wolken und eine dynamische Tageslichtsimulation. Neben dem herkömmlichen Benchmark-Durchlauf lässt sich das idyllische Gebiet auch selbst erkunden. Der Benchmark steht zum kostenlosen Download (http://unigine.com/download/#heaven) auf der Unigine-Seite bereit und funktioniert im DirectX-9 und 10-Modus mit Grafikkarten ab der HD-2000- oder GeForce-7-Serie mit mindestens 256 MByte Speicher. Für den DirectX-11-Modus ist derzeit eine AMD-Grafikkarte der HD-5000-Serie Voraussetzung. Nvidia bietet noch keine DirectX-11-fähigen Grafikkarten an.

Die nächste Version des beliebten synthetischen Benchmarks wird grundsätzlich nur DirectX 11 unterstützen.
Dies wird aus einem Interview von CGV mit Jukka Mäkinen, dem CEO von Futuremark, und dem Producer Jaakko Haapasalo deutlich.
Zwar behandelt das Interview hauptsächlich andere Dinge und den Game-Studio-Bereich der Firma, doch Mäkinen erwähnt auch kurz die »zweite Hälfte« von Futuremark, die an 3DMark arbeitet. Dieses Team nutzt nur DirectX 11 und erstellt laut Mäkinen damit »wirklich unglaubliche Dinge«.
Die Konzentration auf die neueste Grafikkarten-Technik habe aber auch Vorteile für den Game-Studio-Sektor des Unternehmens. Wann der neue 3DMark erscheinen soll, ist unbekannt.

Das Softwarestudio Unigine hat den ersten DirectX-11-Benchmark Unigine Heaven ausgebaut und um eine Extreme-Einstellung erweitert.
Eine Neuerung in Unigine Heaven 2.0 dürfte vielen Betrachtern recht bekannt vorkommen, denn es handelt sich um ein Luftschiff, wie es in ähnlicher Form auch im 3DMark 2006 bereits vorkam. Ebenfalls neu im Heaven-Benchmark ist eine zusätzliche Festung.
Das besonders wichtige DirectX-11-Feature Tessellation kann auf Wunsch deaktiviert, eingeschaltet und dann auch auf den Faktor »Extreme« eingestellt werden. Auch die Intensität lässt sich anpassen. Dann blähen sich Rundungen mehr oder weniger auf (siehe Bildergalerie). Zusätzlich lässt sich auch die Entfernung bestimmen ab wann die Objekte tesseliert werden. In der maximalen Einstellung werden Objekte auch in der Ferne vollständig tesseliert, das bringt aber auch eine Radeon HD 5870 an ihre Grenze. Der neue Benchmark kommt gerade rechtzeitig, um für die anstehenden Benchmark-Vergleiche zwischen den DirectX-11-Karten von AMD und den neuen Geforce GTX 480 und Geforce GTX 470 von Nvidia eingesetzt zu werden, die am Freitag endlich offiziell vorgestellt werden.
Gerade Tessellation wird von Nvidia als besondere Stärke der neuen Karten hervorgehoben. Hier können sich die neuen Geforce-Modelle angeblich deutlich von der Radeon HD 5850, der Radeon HD 5870 und in manchen Fällen sogar vom AMD-Flaggschiff Radeon HD 5970 absetzen. Natürlich wird unser Test am Freitag der neuen Geforce-Karten auch den neuen Heaven-Benchmark 2.0 berücksichtigen.

Unigine hat den Heaven Benchmark 2.0 nun auch offiziell zum Download (http://unigine.com/download/) freigegeben. Die Windows-Version ist 231 MByte groß, es steht aber auch eine Version für Linux mit 233 MByte bereit.
Für den Betrieb werden zwar nur ATI-Radeon-Karten ab der HD 2000-Serie oder Nvidia-Geforce-Karten ab der Geforce 7-Reihe gefordert, für Tessellation ist aber unbedingt eine DirectX-11-Grafikkarte und notwendig. Ebenso läuft der Benchmark auch unter Windows XP, dann allerdings ohne nur mit DirectX-9-Features.

Mit dem ComputeMark tritt ein neuer Grafikkarten-Benchmark die Bühne. Vor kurzem ist die Version 1.3 mit Vista-Support erschienen.
Version 1.0 des Grafikkarten-Benchmarks ComputeMark wurde am 20. April veröffentlicht. Inzwischen steht auf der schlichten Webseite (http://www.friendsea.com/) Version 1.3 zur Verfügung. Neu hinzugekommen sind seitdem etwa der Support für Windows Vista und SLI-/Crossfire-Konfigurationen.
ComputeMark testet ausschließlich DX11-fähige Grafikkarten wie ATis Radeon 5000-Serie oder die aktuellen Fermi-GPUs (Geforce GTX 4x0) von Nvidia. Allerdings handelt es sich nicht um einen typischen Spiele-Benchmark. Vielmehr soll den Compute-Fähigkeiten der Chips auf den Zahn gefühlt werden. Moderne GPUs können dank ihrer hochgradig parallel ausgelegter Arbeitsweise zunhemend Berechnungen übernehmen, die früher eine klassische Domäne der Hauptprozessors waren. Dazu zählen etwa das en- und dekodieren von Videostreams oder auch Aufgaben im medizinischen und wissenschaftlichen Bereich.
Neben dem eigentlichen Benchmark bietet der Test noch eine »BURN«-Funktion. Mit ihr kann die Stabilität einer Grafikkarte getestet werden - etwa, um extreme Übertaktungsmaßnahmen zu überprüfen.

Der Nachfolger des 3DMark Vantage heißt laut der finnischen Webseite Plaza.fi (http://plaza.fi/muropaketti/3dmark-11-tietoa-ja-ensimmaiset-kuvat) 3DMark 11. Ein Foto einer Präsentation in Amsterdam enthält erste Informationen zum Benchmark. 3DMark 11 konzentriert sich auf DirectX 11 und soll auch zukünftige Grafikkarten bis an ihr Limit auslasten.

Wie schon beim 3DMark Vantage mit Sapphire hat Futuremark einen Werbepartner in den Benchmark eingebaut. In einem Test namens »Undersea Submarine« wird MSI 30 Sekunden lang beworben, vermutlich mit einem Logo. Erste Eindrücke des 3DMark 11 gibt es bereits auf der Computex in Taiwan, die Anfang Juni stattfindet.
Der genaue Erscheinungstermin ist noch nicht bekannt, aber da der Benchmark im 3. Quartal als Vollversion zusammen mit MSI-Produkten ausgeliefert werden soll, dürfte der 3DMark 11 wohl auch in diesem Zeitraum veröffentlicht werden.

FluidMark ist ein Benchmark, der die PhysX-Fähigkeiten eines Systems durch die Simulation von Flüssgkeiten testet. Die neue Version 1.2.0 ist dank der Unterstützung von Mehrkern-Prozessoren und der Möglichkeit, die Nutzung des Prozessors zu erzwingen, deutlich flexibler und auch für Benutzer ohne Nvidia-Grafikkarte interessanter geworden.

Futuremark hat den 3DMark 11 offiziell für den Sommer 2010 angekündigt. Ein erstes Video zeigt Szenen aus dem in Entwicklung befindlichen DirectX-11-Benchmark.
Mit dem 3DMark 11 sollen Gaming-PCs auf ihre Leistung mit DirectX-11-Grafikeffekten getestet werden können. Wie seine Vorgänger wird auch der kommende 3DMark mit einer eigenen Grafikengine arbeiten. Die synthetischen Tests können in Verbindung mit Praxistests verschiedener Spiele aber dabei helfen, die Hardware besser einzuschätzen.
Ein kurzes Video von Futuremark zeigt eine frühe Entwicklungsversion der DirectX-11-Grafikengine des 3DMark 11 in Aktion. Unigine hat den Heaven-Benchmark nochmals erweitert und das Programm in der neuen Version 2.1 (http://unigine.com/download/) online gestellt. Neben DirectX 11 unterstützt der Unigine Heaven Benchmark nun auch die freie Grafik-Programmierschnittstelle OpenGL 4.0 mit allen neuen Möglichkeiten, zu denen beispielsweise auch Hardware-Tessellation gehört.
Die zweite große Änderung betrifft stereoskopisches 3D, das Heaven nun ebenfalls beherrscht und dabei verschiedene Techniken wie iZ3D, Anaglypph oder Nvidias 3D Vision unterstützt. Version 2.1 behebt auch mehrere Fehler, die zu Stabilitätsproblemen führen konnten sowie kleinere Optimierungen.

Taufrisch ist die Version 11 des OpenGL-Benchmarks Viewperf, den die Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) nun in vier Versionen anbietet: für Linux und Windows je in einer 32- und 64-Bit-Version. Wer 50 US-Dollar zahlt, dem schickt die Organisation die jeweils rund 1 GByte großen Dateien auf DVD. Sie enthalten neben den lauffähigen Binaries den Source-Code des Viewperf selbst. Nach wie vor steht die Software nach dem Registrieren zum freien Download (http://www.spec.org/gwpg/downloadindex.html) bereit.
Auffällig neu ist die grafische Oberfläche, von der aus man den Test zum Probelauf mit verschiednen Bildschirmauflösungen und Threads starten kann. Für dokumentierbare Ergebnisse bleibt es einem aber nach wie vor nicht erspart, in den Tiefen des Dateisystem nach config.txt zu suchen und dort mit einem Editor die wichtigen Daten zum Testobjekt einzutragen.
Im Unterschied zum Vorgänger Viewperf 10 nutzt die Version 11 neue Viewsets, sodass die Resultate mit der älteren Version nicht mehr vergleichbar sind. Sie stammen von typischen Grafiksystemen, wie sie in Konstruktion und Simulation im Einsatz sind. Viewperf 10 nutzte acht Testdateien aus den Anwendungen 3D Studio Max, Catia, Ensight, Maya, Proengineer, Solid Works, UGs Teamcenter und UGS NX. Anstelle von Autodesks 3DS Max ist nun Lightwave von NewTek dabei. Alle anderen Tests fußen auf neueren Ausgaben der bisherigen Grafikanwendungen. Der Anbieter UGS wurde inzwischen von Siemens übernommen, was zu einer Namensänderung der Viewsets in Siemens Teamcenter und Siemens NX geführt hat.
Bei der SPEC handelt es sich um eine internationale Herstellervereinigung, in der fast alle namhaften Systemhersteller vertreten sind. Sie hat seit 1984 inzwischen über 20 Testverfahren für Systemkomponenten und Anwendungen hervorgebracht.

Wie im Vorfeld von Nvidias GPU Technology Conference (GTC) von Quellen im Grafikgeschäft zu hören war, wird Futuremark in der nächsten Version des 3DMark nicht mehr Nvidias PhysX verwenden. In der letzten Version, 3DMark Vantage, war die proprietäre Physik-Engine noch zum Einsatz gekommen.
Schon dabei wurden die Routinen nur für die CPU-Tests eingesetzt. Bei Tests von Grafikkarten etablierte sich aber schnell PhysX abzuschalten, weil die Ergebnisse der CPU-Benchmarks den Gesamtwert des Benchmarks stark verzerrten. Je nach Grafikkarte konnten die CPU-Tests mehr als doppelt so hohe Werte liefern als ohne Beschleunigung per GPU.
Um die Vergleichbarkeit zwischen verschiedenen Grafiklösungen wieder herzustellen, soll Futuremark Quellenangaben zufolge für seinen nächsten Benchmark auf Directcompute als Teil von DirectX 11 setzen. Entwickler von Microsoft sollen dabei die Programmierer von Futuremark bereits unterstützen.
Das Rennen um den höchsten 3DMark-Score, das vor allem von den Chipherstellern forciert wird, könnte sich damit nicht mehr nur auf die Direct3D-Treiber, sondern auch auf Directcompute konzentrieren. Auch wenn es sich dabei um synthetische Tests handelt, sind Benchmarks wie 3DMark weiterhin wichtig, weil sich die Programme - anders als Spiele - kaum ändern und sehr feinfühlig auf die Mehrleistung von neuer Hardware reagieren. Zudem lassen sich damit neue Funktionen einzeln und genau überprüfen, wie zuletzt beim DirectX-11-Benchmark Heaven die Tesselation.
Sprecher von Nvidia wollten in San Jose, wo derzeit die GTC vorbereitet wird, zu den Gerüchten um den nächsten 3DMark keine Stellung nehmen. Zum Entwicklungsstand des Benchmarks und den darin verwendeten Schnittstellen lägen noch keine Informationen vor, hieß es.

Zusammen mit einem neuen Video des kommenden Benchmarks hat Futuremark etliche Informationen zu 3DMark 11 bekannt gegeben. So soll das Programm noch vor Jahresende erscheinen und auch in der kostenlosen Version wieder unbegrenzt viele Durchläufe erlauben.
Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, unterstützt 3DMark 11 Microsofts DirectX-11 mittels einer eigenen Engine von Futuremark. In der nun gezeigten Szene "High Temple" wird dadurch laut dem Unternehmen unter anderem Tesselation für die - vermeintlich versteinerten - Statuen und die Gebäude genutzt. Ebenfalls bemerkenswert sind die Sonnenstrahlen, die sich ihren Weg durch die Bäume bahnen.
Wie schon die Hauptdarstellerin in der ersten Szene von 3DMark Vantage erinnert auch das Artwork der Dschungel-Szene an Demos von Grafikkartenherstellern: War die Agentin aus Vantage der Ruby von ATI stark angelehnt, so liegen bei "High Temple" Assoziationen zu Nvidias vorletztem Tech-Demo 'Medusa' nahe. Ungewöhnlich ist das nicht: Futuremark arbeitet mit allen Herstellern von GPUs eng zusammen, AMD bestätigte gegenüber Golem.de auch, dass die Frauenfigur 3DMark Vantage auf Ruby basiert.
Laut Futuremark soll die kostenlose Version von 3DMark 11 - anders als bei Vantage - beliebig viele Durchläufe erlauben. Ob es andere Einschränkungen gibt, wie etwa fest vorgegeben Presets für Auflösung und Filterfunktionen, verriet das Unternehmen noch nicht. Wie die hier von einem WMV-Video wiedergegebene Szene per Echtzeit-Rendering aussieht, können Grafikfans ab dem kommenden Freitag auf Blizzards Messe Blizzcon im kalifornischen Anaheim überprüfen.
Noch im Jahr 2010 soll der Benchmark dann in einer vollständigen Version erscheinen. Einen genaueren Termin nannte Futuremark noch nicht, bisher war noch das dritte Quartal geplant. Quellen von Golem.de zufolge unterstützt das Programm anders als sein Vorgänger nicht mehr Nvidias PhysX sondern setzt ganz auf DirectCompute und OpenCL

Futuremark will seinen Direct-X-11-Benchmark 3DMark 11 am 30. November 2010 veröffentlichen. Die Advanced Edition des Benchmarks kann ab sofort vorbestellt werden.
Der 3DMark 11 unterstützt Microsofts Direct X 11 mit einer von Futuremark selbst entwickelten Engine. Er soll am 30. November 2010 in zwei Varianten erscheinen: Die kostenlose Basic-Edition bietet nur Voreinstellungen für mittelschnelle PCs (Performance-PCs), unterstützt in der Audio-Visual-Demo maximal eine Auflösung von 720p und erlaubte es, gemessene Werte online zu vergleichen und zu speichern.
Die Advances-Edition des 3DMark 11 soll 19,95 US-Dollar kosten und bringt Voreinstellungen für PCs unterschiedlicher Klassen mit (Entry-Level-PC, Performance-PC, Extreme-PC). Sie kann zudem mit eigenen, angepassten Einstellungen betrieben werden. Zudem wird für den Stabilitätstest ein Endlosmodus unterstützt. Ergebnisse können auch hier online gespeichert und verglichen werden, aber auch eine Offline-Verwaltung für Ergebnisse steht bereit.

Zusammen mit der Ankündigung veröffentlichte Futuremark auch einen neuen Trailer, der unter anderem eine Tiefseeszene zeigt. Die schon bekannte Tempelszene wurde hinsichtlich der Lichtverhältnisse verändert und zeigt nun einen Sonnenuntergang.

Futuremark verschiebt die Veröffentlichung des 3DMark 11 - voraussichtlich nur um ein paar Tage. Die 3D-Benchmarking-Software für Windows wird also nicht mehr wie angekündigt im November 2010 erscheinen.
Der 3DMark 11 wird noch einige Tage länger auf sich warten lassen. Wie Futuremark mitteilte, müssen zuvor noch einige schwer zu behebende Fehler beseitigt werden. "Unser Ziel ist es, dass der 3DMark 11 von Anfang an genaue, verlässliche und konsistente Ergebnisse liefert", heißt es in einer Mitteilung von Futuremark. Ein Patchen direkt nach der Veröffentlichung wollen die Entwickler deshalb vermeiden.
Wie lange 3DMark 11 sich verzögert, wurde nicht angekündigt. Es könne ein Tag oder eine Woche sein, hieß es. Offenbar geht Futuremark aber noch vom Dezember 2010 aus.
Der 3DMark 11 soll insbesondere der Ermittlung der CPU- und Grafikleistung von Windows-Rechnern in Verbindung mit DirectX-11-Spielen zeigen.

Ende November teilte der Softwarehersteller FutureMark offiziell mit, die Veröffentlichung der kommenden Version seiner Benchmark-Software 3DMark verschieben zu wollen. Nun ist der Release-Termin dafür bekannt.
3DMark 11 wird den getroffenen Angaben des Unternehmens zufolge am 7. Dezember dieses Jahres auf den Markt kommen. Um 15:00 Uhr soll die Benchmark-Software für interessierte Nutzer zum Download zur Verfügung stehen. Vorgesehen war das Release ursprünglich für den 30. November.
Grundsätzlich wird es ab 7. Dezember eine kostenlose Version geben, die im Funktionsumfang eingeschränkt sein wird. Alternativ wird FutureMark eine Advanced Edition zum Preis von rund 20 US-Dollar anbieten. Die dritte Version stellt die Professional Edition für 995 US-Dollar dar.
FutureMark-Präsident Oliver Baltuch hat sich Ende November zu den Gründen für diese Verspätung geäußert. In Form von einer Stellungnahme sagte er, dass man sich kurzfristig Zeit nehmen möchte, um einige schwierige Fehler noch vor der Veröffentlichung beseitigen zu können.

Futuremark hat ihren 3D-Benchmark mit DirectX-11-Unterstützung vorgelegt. Der 3DMark 11 erfordert Windows 7 oder Vista sowie eine DirectX-11-fähige Grafikkarte. Dazu gehören die Serien AMD Radeon HD 5000, Nvidia GeForce 400 und neuere. Die Leistungsfähigkeit wird anhand sechs verschiedener 3D-Szenen ermittelt. Dabei variiert die Stärke grafischer Effekte wie Kantenglättung, Tessellation, Tiefenunschärfe und volumetrischer Beleuchtung.

Außerdem misst der 3DMark 11 die Prozessorleistung anhand physikalischen Effekte. Statt der beim Vorgänger 3DMark Vantage verwendeten PhysX-Bibliothek von Nvidia kommt die Open-Source-Engine Bullet Physics zum Einsatz. Das Verhalten verformbarer Objekte berechnet wiederum der Grafikchip. Futuremark hat sich dabei für die in DirectX 11 enthaltene GPGPU-Schnittstelle DirectCompute entschieden.
Mit 228 MByte ist die Downloadgröße für alle drei Varianten des 3DMark 11 gleich. Die kostenfreie, mit Werbung versehene Basic Edition lässt sich lediglich in der Performance-Einstellung mit einer Auflösung von 1280 × 720 Pixeln starten. In der werbefreien Advanced Edition für 19,95 US-Dollar lassen sich neben den Vorgeinstellungen für Notebooks (1024 × 600) und Gaming-PCs (1920 × 1080) auch eigene Profile definieren. An kommerzielle Anwender und Entwickler richtet sich die Professional Edition (995 US-Dollar). Mit ihr lässt sich die Bildqualität überprüfen und das Programm per Kommandozeile steuern.
Beim Rennen um den ersten synthetischen 3D-Benchmark mit DirectX-11-Effekten musste sich Futuremark allerdings bereits vor einem Jahr dem Unigine Heaven geschlagen geben. Dieser ist inzwischen in Version 2.1 erhältlich und läuft – ohne Tessellation-Effekte – auch mit DirectX-10-tauglichen Grafikkarten.

Die Entwickler aus dem Hause Futuremark haben heute eine neue Version des DirectX-10-Benchmarks 3DMark Vantage veröffentlicht. Ab sofort lässt sich die Basic Edition kostenlos nutzen - die von vielen Nutzern eingesetzte Trial Edition entfällt.
Wer für den Benchmark kein Geld ausgeben wollte, konnte in der Vergangenheit lediglich eine begrenzte Anzahl von Tests mit der Software durchführen. Diese Einschränkung ärgerte viele Nutzer, zumal sich die grundlegenden Funktionen von 3DMark 09 und 3DMark 11 ohne Kosten verwenden lassen. Damit die Produkte ein einheitliches Lizenzmodell aufweisen, hat man sich nun zu dieser Veränderung durchgerungen.
Die neue Version 1.1.0 bringt noch weitere Verbesserungen mit. So kann 3DMark Vantage ab sofort auf deutlich mehr Endgeräten eingesetzt werden, da sich die Ausgabe an die verschiedenen Display-Größen anpasst, egal welche Voreinstellung verwendet wird. Zudem wird die GPU-beschleunigte Physikberechnung jetzt standardmäßig bei den CPU-Tests aktiviert.

Futuremark hat mit Termin "Coming soon" die Benchmarksuite PCMark 7 angekündigt. Der neue Test läuft nur unter Windows 7 und soll sowohl einfache PCs wie Netbooks als auch Highend-Maschinen einordnen können.
Noch gibt es weder Preisangaben noch ein Erscheinungsdatum, aber anders als frühere Ausgaben des Tests wird PCMark 7 mehrere Rechnerprofile unterstützen. Unter den sieben Suites, wie die Zusammenstellung der einzelnen insgesamt 20 Tests heißen, gibt es laut Futuremark auch ein Profil namens Lightweight. Es soll für Netbooks und Tablets dienen. Um diese nicht mit allen modernen Funktionen ausgestatteten Geräte zu fordern, enthält PCMark weiterhin auch Tests nach DirectX-9. In den 20 Einzeltests werden aber auch DirectX-10 und DirectX-11 geprüft.
Unter den sieben Suites finden sich mit "Creativity", "Productivity" und "Storage" aus dem Vorgänger PCMark Vantage bekannte Einträge, neu sind die Suites "Entertainment" (was offenbar "Music" ersetzt) und "Computation". Damit will Futuremark gezielt die reine Rechenleistung eines PC überprüfen - ob auch unter Verwendung von GPU-Computing, verriet das Unternehmen noch nicht. Bisher unterstützte Futuremark Berechnungen auf Grafikprozessoren schon mit 3DMark Vantage, allerdings nur mit Nvidias PhysX. In der neuen Version 3DMark 11 wird die Nvidia-Schnittstelle nicht mehr genutzt.
Die neue Version der Storage-Tests soll sich auch eignen, um SSDs und externe Laufwerke - gemeint sein dürften vor allem USB 3.0 und Thunderbolt - mit Dateioperationen vermessen zu können. Der PC-Mark-Score wird durch die Suites Entertainment, Creativity und Productivity ermittelt.
Wie die einzelnen Suites zusammengesetzt sind und wie die konkreten Aufgaben der Tests aussehen, gibt Futuremark noch nicht an. Es ist jedoch wahrscheinlich, dass das Unternehmen weiterhin auf synthetische Tests setzt, was gerade bei einer Untersuchung von allen Aspekten der Leistung eines PC von Vorteil ist. Da sich ein solcher Benchmark - anders als konkrete Anwendungen - mehrere Jahre lang kaum verändert, bleiben auch verschiedene Hardwaregenerationen vergleichbar. Frühere PCMark-Versionen prüften dazu zahlreiche Funktionen des Betriebssystems.

PCMark 7 wird am 3. Mai 2011 in verschiedenen Versionen erscheinen. Futuremark veröffentlicht damit eine Lösung zum Leistungsvergleich von PCs mit Windows-7-Betriebssystem.
Die Benchmarking-Testsuite PCMark 7 wird am 3. Mai 2011 in drei verschiedenen Versionen veröffentlicht. Die obligatorische kostenlose "PCMark 7 Basic Edition" für Endkunden enthält den Standardtest, veröffentlicht das Ergebnis automatisch in Futuremarks Onlinedatenbank und ermöglicht den Vergleich mit Testergebnissen anderer Nutzer.
Die "PCMark 7 Advanced Edition" bietet für 39,95 US-Dollar den kompletten Testumfang - was 7 PC-Testszenarien entspricht. Es können unbegrenzt viele Testergebnisse online gesichert werden. Gleichzeitig gibt es aber auch die Möglichkeit, die Ergebnisse nicht zu veröffentlichen und offline zu verwalten. Ein kommerzieller Einsatz ist auch bei der Advanced Edition nicht gestattet.
Futuremarks "PCMark 7 Professional Edition" kostet 995 US-Dollar. Sie richtet sich an Unternehmen, die PCs kommerziell testen. Hierzu gibt es zusätzlich noch einen Kommandozeilenmodus, beim Stöbern in der Onlinedatenbank wird keine Werbung angezeigt und es gibt einen eigenen Kundendienst.
Die beiden kostenpflichtigen Versionen von PCMark 7 können bereits über PCMark.com vorbestellt werden.

Futuremark hat heute die Benchmark-Software PCMark 7 veröffentlicht, mit der sich die Leistungsfähigkeit eines Windows-Rechners ermitteln lässt. Im Gegensatz zu 3DMark konzentriert sich PCMark nicht nur auf die Grafikkarte.
PCMark 7 präsentiert sich mit einer simplen Benutzeroberfläche, auf der die unterschiedlichen Funktionen in Tabs untergebracht sind. Der erste Tab ermöglicht die Auswahl der durchzuführenden Tests, während der zweite den Fortschritt während des eigentlichen Benchmarks darstellt. Im dritten Tab können die Ergebnisse ausgewertet werden. In den letzten beiden Tabs findet man ein Log, das sämtliche Aktivitäten aufzeichnet sowie eine Hilfefunktion.

Wir haben PCMark 7 ausprobiert. Das Testsystem mit Windows 7 (64 Bit) beinhaltet einen Intel Core i7-860 mit 2,8 GHz, 6 Gigabyte DDR3-RAM sowie eine AMD Radeon HD 5870. Bei dem verbauten Mainboard handelt es sich um ein Asus P7P55 LX.

Im ersten Schritt muss eine Auswahl getroffen werden, welche Tests im Rahmen des Benchmarks durchgeführt werden sollen. Dazu gehören die Videowiedergabe sowie das Video-Transcoding, Bildmanipulation, Textbearbeitung, Web-Browsing, DirectX 9, 10 und 11-Tests für die Grafikkarte sowie diverse Aufgaben, mit denen die Festplatte belastet wird (Windows Defender, Bilder importieren, Videobearbeitung, etc.).
Anschließend läuft der Benchmark vollkommen automatisch ab. Währenddessen sollte das System nicht anderweitig verwendet werden, da ansonsten die Ergebnisse verfälscht werden und nicht vergleichbar sind. Am Ende wird eine Punktzahl ausgegeben. Für unser Testsystem beläuft sich diese auf 2699 Punkte. In einer detaillierten Ansicht kann eingesehen werden, wie gut sich der Rechner in den einzelnen Tests geschlagen hat, so dass man recht schnell die Schwachstellen ausfindig macht.
Die Ergebnisse können auch im Browser betrachtet werden und mit einem entsprechenden Nutzerkonto auf pcmark.com veröffentlicht werden. Dort kann man sich dem Vergleich mit anderen Nutzern stellen. Findet man im System eines anderen Nutzers eine Komponente, die sehr gute Ergebnisse liefert, findet man auch gleich Links zu mehreren Online-Shops, um das jeweilige Produkt zu kaufen.

Futuremark bietet PCMark 7 in drei verschiedenen Ausführungen an. Die Basic Edition ist kostenlos und kann beliebig oft eingesetzt werden, beinhaltet jedoch nicht alle Tests. Diese gibt es erst in der knapp 30 US-Dollar teuren Advanced Edition. Wer Benchmarks professionell nutzen und den Vorgang mit Hilfe von Kommandozeilenaufrufen automatisieren möchte, muss zur Professional Edition für 995 US-Dollar greifen.
Als minimale Systemanforderungen nennen die Entwickler einen 1 GHz schnellen Prozessor, 1 (32 Bit) bzw. 2 Gigabyte (64 Bit) RAM, eine DirectX-9-kompatible Grafikkarte sowie eine minimale Display-Auflösung von 1024 x 600 Pixel. Als Betriebssystem wird ausschließlich Windows 7 unterstützt.

Der finnische 3D-Benchmark-Entwickler Futuremark will in den kommenden Wochen die nächste Version des 3DMark freigeben. Dies kündigte Futuremark-Chef Oliver Baltuch in einer Pressemitteilung an. Dazu veröffentlichte die Firma ein Video, das einen Eindruck von den speziellen Tests auf Mobilgeräten gibt. Denn erstmals wird 3DMark nicht nur auf Windows-PCs laufen, sondern auch auf Smartphones und Tablets mit den Betriebssystemen Windows RT, Android und iOS.
Der neue 3DMark besteht aus drei Kategorien: Ice Storm für Mobilgeräte, Cloud Gate für Windows-Notebooks und Mittelklasse-Hardware sowie Fire Strike, das auch Hochleistungs-Grafikkarten zum Schwitzen bringen soll. Alle nutzen dabei unterschiedliche 3D-Schnittstellen. Ice Storm läuft via Direct3D Feature Level 9 (Windows RT) beziehungsweise OpenGL ES 2.0 (Android, iOS) und besteht aus zwei GPU-Tests und einem Physik-Durchlauf, der die CPU-Rechenleistung ermittelt. Cloud Gate verlangt DirectX-10- und Fire Strike DirectX-11-Hardware. Das ausschließlich unter Windows 8 nutzbare DirectX 11.1 wird nicht benötigt.

How fast are my disks really? Disk Bench tests your hard drive speed in a real life situation not in a benchmarking environment. All it does is copies a file from A to B, times the time it took, and deletes the file from B again.
The program is using the current filesystem to save a file. If it is fragmented, the performance will be degraded, as it is in real life. So, to figure out how fast your computer is, you can copy a file from A to B and use a stop watch. Or you could just as easily use this program.

How fast are my disks really? Disk Bench tests your hard drive speed in a real life situation not in a benchmarking environment. All it does is copies a file from A to B, times the time it took, and deletes the file from B again.
The program is using the current filesystem to save a file. If it is fragmented, the performance will be degraded, as it is in real life. So, to figure out how fast your computer is, you can copy a file from A to B and use a stop watch. Or you could just as easily use this program.

With AS SSD Benchmark you can determine your SSD drive's performance by conducting several specific tests.
Test the sequential or random read/write performance without using the cache. AS SSD Benchmark reads/writes a 1 GByte file as well as randomly chosen 4K blocks. Additionally, it performs the tests using 1 or 64 threads and it determines the SSD's access time.

In some situations it can be useful, even just out for mere curiosity, to know more about your computer's performance or that of a single component: to this end it is usually necessary to run a specific software program known as a "benchmark". XtremeMark is a software of this kind and it will test the speed of your PC and in particular that of your CPU (Central Processing Unit) by executing a large amount of parallel calculations and so on.
XtremeMark can put both older and newer CPUs to the test; it supports 32/64bit processors, multicore and multi-thread (max 16 cores or parallel threads) machines. The strong point of XtremeMark is in its wide range of customization options: you can set how many threads to use for the test, how many calculations to carry out (from 10 million to 100 billion) and the priority level for calculations. Once a test has been performed, XtremeMark compiles a brief report which contains precise info about the computer and test results (the results are also exportable as TXT or RTF format files, thus it'll be easier to save them or share them on the Net, in forums, websites, via mail or even in a chatroom).

This update fixes a GUI issue that resulted in marginally lower than expected scores when starting a test from the Benchmark Details screen in 3DMark versions 2.1.2852 and later. Benchmark runs started from the Home screen or the Command Line were not affected.
It is normal for 3DMark scores to vary by up to 3% between runs since there are factors in a modern, multitasking operating system that cannot be completely controlled.
With this update, overall scores are expected to increase by up to 0.3%. Scores from the Physics and CPU parts of benchmark tests may improve by up to 2.5%. Scores from this version of 3DMark are consistent with results from previous versions that did not have the GUI issue.

This update fixes an issue that affected the scores in the API Overhead feature test with DirectX 11 in the earlier 3DMark versions. In some cases, the issue led to more constant buffers to be updated than the actual geometries drawn, causing some systems to get lower scores in the DirectX 11 test.
The scores from API Overhead feature test with DirectX 11 from 3DMark v2.3.3693 are not comparable with scores from the same test in the earlier 3DMark versions. The benchmark scores for API Overhead feature test with Vulkan and DirectX 12 are not affected.

With AS SSD Benchmark you can determine your SSD drive's performance by conducting several specific tests.
Test the sequential or random read/write performance without using the cache. AS SSD Benchmark reads/writes a 1 GByte file as well as randomly chosen 4K blocks. Additionally, it performs the tests using 1 or 64 threads and it determines the SSD's access time.
Two extra benchmark tests examine the drive's behaviour when (1) copying a few big files, a lot of small files and a mixture of file sizes by using cached copy functions of your OS as well as (2) reading/writing data depending on the data's compressibility.

On those GPUs (like Radeon RX 400 series) the GPU temperature goes up so quickly at the start of the stress test that the GPU temperature spike filter detects a false spike. With AS SSD Benchmark you can determine your SSD drive's performance by conducting several specific tests.
Test the sequential or random read/write performance without using the cache. AS SSD Benchmark reads/writes a 1 GByte file as well as randomly chosen 4K blocks. Additionally, it performs the tests using 1 or 64 threads and it determines the SSD's access time.
Two extra benchmark tests examine the drive's behaviour when (1) copying a few big files, a lot of small files and a mixture of file sizes by using cached copy functions of your OS as well as (2) reading/writing data depending on the data's compressibility.

How fast are my disks really? Disk Bench tests your hard drive speed in a real life situation not in a benchmarking environment. All it does is copies a file from A to B, times the time it took, and deletes the file from B again.
The program is using the current filesystem to save a file. If it is fragmented, the performance will be degraded, as it is in real life. So, to figure out how fast your computer is, you can copy a file from A to B and use a stop watch. Or you could just as easily use this program.

Nach dem Benchmark können Sie die Werte im Internet mit anderen Grafikkarten vergleichen um festzustellen ob es gravierende Abweichungen gibt!
