Hello jackjavo,
here is what I did: I copied my existing installation of Smart into a new directory, then installed new 0.3 with the msi installer over the old one. That is working fine. have been playing around for 2 hours now without any problems, except that there are no plugins accepted. The do not appear in drop down list and they do not function. Is that a feature?

Here is another one I just noticed. OSD font changes, size and type are either not changed and when changed not saved. Can lead to crashes.

Confirmed, so for now I will leave the fonts on defaults.

BTW, the illegal characters issue I mentioned on my last PM does really happen.

Just started scanning on sat, 19.2Astra first. Two crashes and reports being sent.
Will look after this in deep later.

Then I scanned 11817 manually, to get "I>TELE", and I did set %C as a record name component.
No file created on a recording attempt, instead an error message occured.
Means, file name character limitation filtering does not work (at this point).
> is not allowed inside of a file name on Windows.
And of course characters like this could also come from event names, which are used by default.

Screen shot attached.

Confirming this error message results in another one, regarding file not being created.

More testing will follow, of course.
But this needs time, as I have to do all the sat scanning and favs sorting first, due to new DiSEqC 1.1 switches and to avoid all possible trouble with an outdated previous channel database.
Up to now I had only used DVB-T, so no HD / h.264 yet, on 0.3 pre beta.

And besides, real life might also interfere occasionally ;)

Best regards

Jürgen

Hi,

I'm on a deadlock now. Installed sdvb in a new directory called "c:\smartdvbtest"
opened sdvb 030 setting devices - ok
wanted to scan frequencies - message "cannot load .ini file"
imported transponder list from "C:\programs\smartdvb (025)
reopened sdvb 030
same result: sdvb 030 won't import transponder list,

We had a little chat last night in the shout where dada suggested to copy existing sdvb 025 directory in a new directory then install 030
Tried to do this but the setup only allows "repair" or "deinstall"
is there a way to get out of this deadlock?

@dada: if ur running without admin rights like mentioned plugins also should go at fe c:\users\name\local\appdata\smartdvb. Thought is that plugins also write logs/ini etc at default folder so without admin rights sdvb wud prob not run.
@ritchibie: odd, did you use the default install to local user data? Ur at vista? Cud you check if you have transponder files somewhere at ur c:\users\urname\local\appdata... or wherever vista stores that perhaps? I'm guessing somehow the transponders were not copied then correctly by the installer while the settings must be there somewhere at the local user data folder (which is used if found, so there must be settings copied but not tranponders?? by installer??)..
@jurgen: ok i'll chk that (bout names), i thought i had that covered..
@dada/jurgen: oh ok i see u mean fnt not saved after close/rerun? i'll check tx...

at general if you don't want this local user data folder mess, install let's u select normal 'program files' like usual but then app needs to run with admin rights at w7/8 (just make sure u delete the local/appdata/smartdvb folder then so it's never used (coz if there it's prioritized, based on simple settings.ini chck, so r*tch*b** there must be a settings.ini somewhere there :)

Thanks for the info, jackjavo, that fixed the problem, sorry, stupid me :O

Something strange happened and unfortunately I cannot recall when it happened. I was again playing around with OSD. I lost the settings page for "smartosd". It is still listed in the settings but the page is empty and I cannot do anything. The OSD is shown, however. Can I make it reappear somehow? I used "repair" but that didn't do it.

@d*d*: odd :). i located the fnt issue, might be the problem's with that. Try to edit 'settings.ini' nd remove sm*rtosd options (located at [smartosd], take special note of odd 'sm*rtosd f*nt entries (other option is to make 'settings.ini' backup nd remove it, make sure its' the local user data settings.ini if there). Must be bugs (otherwise the menu's just a resource but cud not imagine the .exe's damaged)? If it's related to f*nt bug i'll try to have update about that..

@jackjavo: you're right! In Appdata folder there is under smartdvb a transponder subdirectory and it's empty.
Shall I coppy the 025 ponder list there (just to be safe I'll wait for your instruction) or delete the directory right away?
Seems like the installer did not copy the transponder files there. I changed the standard install from C:\programs\smartdvb
to C:\smartdvbtest could that be the reason?

@r*ch*b**: quite odd! I suppose u did usual install? R u at vista? The inst*ll shud cpy when that choice's made, i'll chk the install wrt vista then!
like u tell might have to do with that u altered default folder, but still odd shud wrk. Is it created 'nywhere? I've done some alterations to inst*ll. Nd yes it's possible to put another tr*nsponder list there (old one no matter). I'll send u pm...

@yvm*f*: i've sent u upd*te to see if that exception's fixed. It's related to new custom list...
edit: to which dl'ed current sdvb3011tst nd r doing upgrade, please re-dl'd coz i forgot to increase version nr (which's issue with upgrade only!, otherwise no need to re-dl'd..). I've altered the load of new custom ch*nnel list at initial run coz it seemed that caused some issues with some, hope i didn't break stuff. Also SmartOSD font issues shud b fixed..
