Re: SmartDVB 0.5.0.51 RC3
« Antwort #15 am: 16 April, 2017, 00:18 »
I installed over RC2 with no problem at all. However, I still can't get uhd to work. Smart will tune to the station and then simply will freeze. After force-close and restart smart will again tune and freeze. As filter I use LAV 068.1 I have not found a solution yet. Same filter works with MPC-HC.
Any hints?

Hi dada,
Any hints?

Try the latest version of SmartDVB RC3 (0.5.0.51):
Zitat
- overall improved stability.
- bda.dev fixes/improvements should be compatible with more devices now.
- HEVC compatibility improved, some current HEVC codecs do not seem enough yet and might cause crashes or freezes, if you have problems try the LAV HEVC decoder.
- improved blindscanner interface
- better video stability.
- audio A/B channel selection button to the graphical status bar.
- scheduler conflict detection and resolving.
- signal analyzer and monitoring including a constellation diagram.
- some timeshift changes should make timeshift more stable.
- Improved MDAPI compatibililty and fixes.

Wie kommt Chrome auf solchen Unsinn? Muss man dafür irgendwo angeschwärzt werden?

Lösung:

I was able to download the file via the mega.nz link. But Firefox told before that smartdvb.net is a website with malicious software, which i ignored. Now Chrome tells the same. That's interesting, because four days ago Chrome did not. I mentioned this issue here (german): https://www.dvbcube.org/index.php?topic=32856.0
Also suggested that perhaps somebody wants to harm @jackjavo or his project by marking it as a malicious website or software.
As a second solution, you can disable the check for malicious websites/software at the privacy options in Chrome or at the security options in Firefox. I would do this temporarily, if needed.

EDIT: Indeed, the status of smartdvb.net in Google Safe Browsing list was updated at 16.04.17: https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/index.html?hl=de#url=http://www.smartdvb.net/tempsite/index.html
EDIT2: Funny: Entering only "smartdvb.net" into the search field results in: No harmful contents found  ::)

... I am using the latest LAV Filter I have 0.68.
The latest version of LAV filters is 0.69: https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases

However, I still can't get uhd to work. Smart will tune to the station and then simply will freeze. After force-close and restart smart will again tune and freeze.
You're right, dada. I switched on my iGPU, which is also Intel HD Graphics 530, and connected the display to its DVI Interface on the mainboard. This results in the same freezing issues. Tuning to SD or HD channels, i have strange rectanglur tearing flickering at the left side of the video, which vanishes after a few seconds. Tuning to UHD 4k channels, i have exactly the same freezing issues. It seems to be luck, if there comes UHD video or a freezer, with roughly 70-80 % freezing.
After that i checked Mediaportal and MPC-HC x64. Having the same LAV decoder and EVR renderer settings they are freezing too. I found out that the issue must have something to do with the EVR renderer. Using Video Mixing Renderer 9, everything runs stable but without DXVA hardware acceleration.

Same filter works with MPC-HC.
With EVR, i have similiar crashes like in SmartDVB and Mediaportal. Video from UHD channels, 4k HEVC Main10.

Conclusion:
Using Nvidia GTX 960, LAV filters 0.69, Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR), everthing runs very stable.
Using Intel HD Graphics 530, LAV filters 0.69, Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR), at least HEVC runs very unstable.

Greetings
Joutungwu

Hi Joutungwu,
to complicate the issue, I tested hevc encoded files in mp4 container using Smart RC3 and 5.6. DVBViewer (by "media fiie" option) with the same settings (EVR renderer and LAV 09.23, installed today). Display of 8bit 4k files was okay and smooth, 10 bit files were stuttering using both, smart and DVBV. No change using SAT input, still freezing.

@dada: could you post your connection settings? Most HEVC channels use AAC,  what AAC decoder are you using. Did you also try a clean install just to be sure.

HEVC Main 10 (10-bit) profile is not fully supported by Intel HD Graphics 530. Only Main profile (8-bit) has full hardware acceleration. Have a look at

Hi Joutungwu,
I actually read all these info. And it is true, I tested different hevc files with 8 and 10 bits using SDVB media play. Media play used LAV splitter, LAV video decoder 0.96-23 (latest build), EVR and AC3 for Audio. 8 bit showed like perhaps 2% cpu and 10 bit like 20%. Hard ware accej was used in both cases and video plus audio was ok.

Hi Jack,
good to hear from you. filter settings were: EVR or madVR, LAV 0.96-23 (nightly build), AC3 or LAV for audio. Usind mad VR I get audio for like 2 seconds, but the screen remains black and SDVB stalls. SDVB seems to lock to the frequency. Looks like buffer problems to me. I thought about a clean install, have not done this yet, always installed over the previous version.

Hi

About the malware reports from google.  Some time ago the wordpress site i had got hacked and my provider shut down the domain.  Luckilly i had an old backup,  non wordpress site,  i could revert to.  Now google seems to have problems with an old 015a zip archive from years ago which gave some false positive (this old file noone ever would use still was linked on the old backup site,   genpix.dev in that archive  was obfuscated for reverse engineering which was also noted and reported as a non problematic false positive at that time). I don't know what the firefox issues are,  but presume it might be related to that.  Of course I've removed the zip archive.  Seems a bit premature for google to take such measures,  as they state themselves hacked sites won't be held against people,  and i also find it difficult to believe they would take such drastic measures without truely investigating such issues for software with an otherwise impeccable reputation. Certainly bad PR which might scare new users away.

@dada you mention still not being able to view UHD.  Did you also have problems with rc2 and uhd?  Did any previous recent version work better or have you never been able to watch UHD correctly.  I don't think it's main app buffering related as this is quite bulletproof now and your i7 should be more than capable of handling that.  Perhaps smartavsrc related or decoder related.  Did you try a different uhd video decoder or try to change lav settings,  you could for example enable the lav audio sync option and see if that makes a difference,  or try vmr9 etc?  Does it happen on all uhd channels irrespective of audio type (ac3 or aac)? You have no issues with other dvb apps and uhd from your tevii?  To rule out perhaps issues with your tevii and uhd (how does the rest of your smartdvb.log look,  you see continuity errors perhaps? )

Best regards
jj

Hi JJ,
i wrote a long response just a few minutes ago, but it got lost somehow. To repeat it shortly: I did a clean install and got UHD working under special conditions ( my Hardware is in the sig). Using EVR always failed. madVR and VMR9 resulted in sound and video (madVR was better). All decoders except the one for AC3 had to be LAV, otherwise there was no HW help by intel 530. Without HW cpu use was 100%, with HW 30-40%. Video was still not without stutters. DVBViewer also did not work with standard conditions, but I did not experiment. However, the situation was not stable. Sometimes when I closed Smart and restarted using excactly the same settings, I found a locked frequency but only like 2 seconds of audio and no video, and after this a stall. That's why I was thinking about a buffer problem. I can send you a log of this occurence, if that would help. I'll try your suggestions when I have some time tomorrow.

Hi  dada,

Of course you can send me the complete logs,  but since you mention also having similar issues with dvbv i'm starting to think it might be tevii related in your case,  perhaps the higher throughput does not agree with the tevii if so might be system/device or perhaps driver related.

Hi JJ,
I also thought about problems with the Tevii and/or its USB driver but I tested another card (PCIe DVBSky S950C) and had similar problems. I looked through the logs, of course without understanding too much of it, but there are errors mentioned and a full timeshift buffer after a few minutes (it is set t0 1 GB). I had to use the task-manager for closing Smart because Smart was unresponsive for a few minutes after the crash.
I attach 3 short logs.
Thank you for your help!

« Antwort #29 am: 20 April, 2017, 20:10 »
I invested some time again today playing with UHD.  I actually got dvbv going with similar settings compared to sdvb. All decoders were LAV 0.69-23 except for the AC3 decoder which was AC3 filter. If this was important I did not test. This collection of LAV was important because otherwise HW support by intel igpu 530 did not work. In addition, dvbv custom EVR was imperative. VMR9 showed some life but no other renderer, not even madVR which functions in sdvb. Under these conditions, regarding my setup, CPU load was only about 25% and video was fairly smooth. I tested Pearl, SES demo, and UHD1 (HD+ which is actually FTA during the day). So far so good.
However, and this is a mystery to me, this was not a stable situation. Once video and audio was running fine, it went on for like 2 hours without problems but when I stopped dvbv and restarted it without any alterations it could happen that I had audio for 2 seconds accompanied by a black screen and then a crash (like experienced with sdvb, as mentioned before). No idea on my part what that could mean.
@JJ I tested sdvb and dvbv crosswise with Tevii and DVB Sky. I was sometimes successful in all combinations provided I used madVR with sdvb and the custom renderer with dvbv. Dvbv custom renderer yielded better results compared to madVR. The instability problems with respect to new starts (sometimes resulting in 2 seconds audio, black screen and ensuing crash) were the same in all combinations. Seems very tricky. I remember vaguely that the new 5.9.4 dvbv source filter was reporting some buffer overflows although running fine.
