@jack

Don't think that I reported this issue before. Here some more details:
Tuning is always successfull. After a longer time recording (3 to 4 hrs.) or sometimes in the beginning of tuning changing to another (crypted) channel may take some time. Aftr one or 2 minutes (signal is o.k.) waiting for the decrypted picture turns out to be unsuccessfull,  I click on "CI" in the settings menu and just alter the "pmt send" settings from "4" to "5" or from "5" to "4".  Result: after max. 10 secs the decrypting begins.

The "blackout" incidents do not occur regularly on crypted channels but quite frequently when the recording time exceeds 90 mins. When I had the "pmt send count" on "2" or "3" and smartdvb in the task manager after some time it frequently happened that I had no video in the smartdvb window, I had a black screen. After rightclicking in the window and pressing "reload channel" the picture would reappear in 5 secs or so. But the recording would be corrupted from the time the box lost the picture. Setting "pmt send count" to "4, 5 or 6" allows smart to loose the picture after some time but the recording would not be corrupted (I have tested this 4 times with 4hrs recordings and 2 times a black window screen). Furthermore, after pressing "reload channel" would turn the picture back. That's why I have chosen to set "pmt send count" on 4 or higher (max. 5) even when the time for decrypting takes a few seconds more.

Is "reload channel" reinitiating the CI? Sorry, I have no idea how this instruction affects the program.

Thx for your compliments and the good wishes  :) :)

(btw i got issued a 'sitzungs fehler' when trying to post messages earlier here, resorted to good ole IE which seemed to have solved that issue so admin please disregard previous messsags about that)..
The "'sitzungs fehler'" issue is confirmed, and our sys admin is going to take care of this soon.
Carefully, of course, to avoid making things even worse.
So this may take some more time.

Even if you succeded with the IE now, this does not have to mean anything, as this error is not permanent but obviously somehow random based.
May also fail next time, and other browsers may work fine again then.
With Firefox or Opera, and on both ways, http or https, I also have to try two or three times quite often.
I don't use IE here.

Happy holidays

Jürgen

@ritschibie:
that's behaviour you report sounds odd, after the initial tune/ci setup the pmt sending stops after the set count ofcourse. Yes a re-load does not only rebuild the direcshow, but does the whole enchilada (tune/ci, etc, it's like you tune the station but with forced re-tune etc, after such forced retune the ci PMTs need to be resend ofcourse). I'll think about some seperate function like 'reset directshow graph', this would perhaps allow you to ensure video keeps working without breaking a busy record. Right now the 'reload on video freeze option' does that and only that (so no re-tune/ci etc in such situation).

@jurgen: ok noted. I never had that 'sitzungs fehler' before, i could not even logout without that error, quite odd. For me it did not resolve itself after a couple of retries (i tried to post a thread numerous times). Btw good to hear from you here, your SmartDVB testing endeavours r missed by me, but i understand energy/monetary issues ofcourse when those old modular desktop system are concerned.

Happy holidays too ofcourse,

JackJavo

@ jackjavo
Have been extremely busy on both private and technical issues recently, and I will be out of town for a week or two soon.
Regarding SmartDVB testing, I hope to be back in business before end of january.

That 'sitzungs fehler' may (but not must) go away after the site is left (like by going to about:blank) and browser cache is cleared, eventually including login state cleanup (on Opera).
Normally this helps here.

Best regards

Jürgen

@jurgen: ofcourse, that's absolutely understandable, some time ago you mentioned, and you're utmost right there, real life takes precedence over such hobbies or passions, whether we like it or not. I've had quite busy times recently too with other stuff i'd better not mention here (there r other nice forums for such issues). Good to know you still intend to be back to business though.

Just to mention, dunno if it's got something to do with recent 'cache' etc trouble here, but i had issues accessing the site yesterday/today (gateway timeouts etc, with usage of some well known privacy browser), just now does it seem somewhat accessible for me.

best regards, enjoy the final encounters with 2013..

BTW, that gateway timeouts are not related with the session check issue.

Hi Jack,

hope you had at least a relaxing and troublefree arrival in 2014!

Thanx for careing about that "blackout" issue. I still think it's somehow hardwarecaused. Never had that issue with the TT card in the PC. I've seen that "reload on freeze" function already a few times. What is signaling an odd thing is when you have the "blackout" and you look at the recorded time (let's say 01:50). Doing a "reload" and seeing the "time recorded" jump to (again let's say) 02:48 hrs. means that the recording is corrupted whereas when the time counter continues with 01:51 means the record is safe. Of course this depends on how close (in time) you watch the recording process. As I told before this "blackout" is not a regular happening. It's mostly time related (happens more often with recordings longer than 90 min) and not restricted to certain channels.

Another issue encountered with smart is the epg recording. I tried this yesterday with the Pink Floyd concert programmed for 07:00 on 3sat. Once pressing on the epg schedule of the selected program a text box appears. But there I cannot enter the option what the program should do after the ending of the program. The pop up window just appears very shortly (milliseconds) then closes again. No real chance to press for one of the options. Is that only on my PC?

Again, a happy New Year

@ritchibie: hope everything's still at order here. To get back to the mentioned 'blackout' issue. I recently was able to look more at this and we might have been on the wrong track here, thinking it might be encryption or even ci related and thus some difficult hardware related problem which might be difficult to solve, but it could simply be timeshift related. I was able to reproduce what seemed 'blackouts' with certain timeshift  settings conditions. I'll be releasing a new beta version for the next 0.4.0 version soon which hopefully also addresses this issue, interested to know if this would also affect your video/record problems.
