Wenn mich nicht alles täuscht, haben die Leute bei Phoenix bei den letzten Versionen die Freeware beschnitten. Ich bekomme plötzlich Meldungen in der Art "System Programme können nur mit der Vollversion gesteuert werden" ... das war bis vor ein paar Monaten nicht so ... ich glaube, ich schau mir mal die Konkurrenz einen Beitrag weiter oben an ...

Dummerweise meldet die Konkurrenz (Tiny Wall bzw. Firewall Control) nicht, wenn ein Programm oder Service raus will ... man müsste selber nachschauen, was raus geht und was nicht.

Behavior

This application only uses existing Windows features, enabling some of them when first launched:
Enables the Windows embedded firewall
Sets the firewall to block both inbound and outbound connections for which no rule exists
Enables the default Windows firewall inbound connection notification
Enables the Windows firewall outbound connections logging (disabled by default)
Creates a scheduled task linked to the Windows firewall event log entries, allowing Windows Firewall Notifier to be launched when needed only

Installation
The application can be unzipped in the folder of your choice (usually c:\Programs\WindowsFirewallNotifier), knowing that it must not be moved once activated (unless you actually want to remove it).

When launching version 1.6 for the first time, I advise to remove any svchost.exe firewall rule you may have created using the previous versions since the services management logic has been way improved.


How-to

Once enabled (after a first launch), the application will show a notification balloon when an application attempts an outgoing connexion while not being allowed to do so. A click on the notification will display a dialog box, allowing the user to:
temporarily allow the application
create a rule for the application, so that it will always be able to connect
block the application once only, after what other notifications may (will) appear
always block the application (no notification will therefore be displayed afterwards)

TinyWall ist eine zweite Verteidigungslinie hinter der in Windows eingebauten Firewall. Die Freeware kontrolliert den ein- und ausgehenden Datenfluss und blockt unautorisierten Datenaustausch.

TinyWall verzichtet bewusst auf Popup-Meldungen an den Anwender. Statt dessen arbeitet die Sicherheitssoftware mit so genannten White-Listen. Bis auf die wichtigsten Windows-Dienste blockt TinyWall zunächst alle Apps die eine Datenverbindung aufbauen wollen. Um eine Freigabe zu erhalten, steuert man die Software via dem Programmmenü in der Taskleiste. Hier editiert man mit wenigen Mausklicks die Verbindungsfreigabe sowie die Whitelist oder deaktiviert die Firewall.

Schnellkontrollen für die Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall Control erleichtert die Konfiguration des windowsinternen Feuerwalls. So spart die Freeware eine ganze Menge Klicks auf dem Weg in die Tiefen der Submenüs.

Die Windows Firewall ist nichts Besonderes, tut aber gute Dienste. In Sachen Bedienbarkeit hat sie jedoch definitiv nicht die Nase vorn, ein simples Umschalten des Sicherheitslevels erfordert bereits eine vergleichsweise lange Reise in Untermenüs der Konfigurationsseite. Die kostenlose Windows Firewall Control platziert ein kleines Symbol in der Taskleiste und ermöglicht so die Umschaltung der verschiedenen Überwachungsstufen mit nur zwei Klicks. Ist eine bestimmte Sicherheitsstufe aktiviert, eröffnet sich zudem ein neues Menü. Hier fügen Anwender neue Regeln für einzelne Programme hinzu bzw. zeigen und passen vorhandene Regeln an.

Die kostenlose Windows Firewall Control macht die Bedienung des Windows Feuerwalls einfacher. Abgerundet wird der Helfer durch eine Import- / Exportfunktion, das ist besonders praktisch zum Übertragen oder Wiederherstellen der Einstellungen.

denies this. "System" is not included in the rules defined for All programs.
- Removed: Registry Editor and Command Prompt were removed from the Tools tab. The CMD
window that was started from that shortcut had no scrolling bar so if the user executed
a command with a large output, the window can't be scrolled up to see the results.

of connections were generated by the operating system to VeriSign and Microsoft servers
in the name of wfc.exe and wfcs.exe. The connections were made to check the validity
of the certificate by the operating system not by WFC, but a lot of users were
concerned about WFC connection attempts which was not the real case.
